I'm angry with the ending, I'm angry with the male and female leads, and I'm angry because I feel the time I spent reading it was wasted. The product description does an ample job of detailing the plot, so I won't repeat it for you. I can't complain about the writing style. It flows easily from one scene to the next, the pacing is appropriate, and the secondary characters are well-drawn. Both Avery and Jude are emotionally distant, and it's nice that they overcome this problem during the book. The last 1/4 of the book, though, ruined it for me. Perhaps the problem is with me. ("It's not you, it's me.") Before you decide to read this book (or not), there are a few things you should know. If other reviewers had revealed these to me, I would not have bothered reading it.

The male lead, Jude, is (as usual) devastatingly handsome--and he knows it. I like a reformed rake as much as the next girl, but the problem with Jude is that after he declares his love for Avery, he turns around (within a day or so) and sleeps with a woman he hates. The book attempts to gloss over his actions because: 1. Avery's left, and he doesn't know when she's coming back; and 2. Jude's just trying to get on the other woman's good side to pump information from her. I really have a hard time liking a character who supposedly falls in love and then is able to just hop in bed the next day with someone else. He could have avoided a sexual relationship with her and still gotten what he wanted. Avery seems unconcerned about this, probably because she has her own issues. What I disliked about her is that she absolutely ruins the guy she "loves" to prove she can do it. She's given a few opportunities to undo the damage she's planned, but she refuses to do so. She destroys him, and he takes her back. It's really hard for me to wrap my head around it. There is a point of no return, and both these characters dove right over the cliff.

I really could have enjoyed the plot more if Avery had been up-front and honest with Jude. She could have called off the "plan," told him the truth, and the rest of the book would have been about them moving past it and maybe joining forces to plan revenge on the other woman before ending up together.

What a great premise for a book. Revenge can be so sexy! And Fun! Ms. Lynn created memorable characters and the right amount of sexual tension. A must read!

Revenge is the name of the game and Avery knew this one was going to be good. Jude Layman deserved what he had coming to him for being the womanizer that he was. Womanizer, editor in chief of a porn magazine, and breaking women's hearts were the crimes that Avery was hired to seek revenge for upon Jude Layman. What she wasn't planning on was the undeniable attraction she felt upon setting her eyes on him. His movie star good looks mixed with the bad boy charisma he exuded was almost more than she could handle.
Jude's philosophy in life was to be honest and upfront with women. He never promised anything he couldn't keep and didn't do commitments. To him it wasn't his fault that the women he slept with didn't want to listen. He couldn't help having good looks and charm. One thing he did know was that until his recently divorced best friend got laid he wouldn't either. It was a vow he intended to keep because his friend meant that much to him. He didn't know how difficult that would be until Angela, aka Avery, walked into his life. She was sexy as hell and didn't just melt at his feet, which made the challenge of getting her all the more interesting.
With each other trying to gain the upper hand in this romance, you know sparks and clothes were bound to fly.
