Kurzbeschreibung
Old games are hard! Game design was different back then. The odds were against the player as designers filled the game with unfair tricks and sequences that few could ever hope to pass.
Metal Gear is a fine demonstration of that. The enemy is infinite in number and is magnitudes more powerful than the player; ammunition is limited; level design is confusing; there is little information as to where the player should go; in some areas, floor traps open up with no warning and mean instant game over.
Metal Gear was the first game in the Metal Gear franchise, and it's a remarkably good outing, but it is hard. This game guide includes full step-by-step instructions as to where you need to go and what you need to do. Also included are diagrams and maps to help you get past particularly difficult areas and show you how to navigate the cruelest sequences.
Please note that this guide is for the MSX version of Metal Gear. There was also a version released for the NES; this guide will not help with that. Check which version you have first. The MSX version is the one found in Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence and Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. This guide was written based on the version found in Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, but it is standard for all translations of the MSX version.
