Actually, this book contains nothing that you probably haven't heard of before or thought of yourself. Its main quality, however, is that you see the positive effect of sticking to these principles (e.g. keeping a source list, do the reading before starting to write) on your work. The structure is very logical and really helps getting "from blank sheet to final draft." There is an introduction to helpful note-taking and source-searching techniques, among other things. Every aspect of writing is covered.
Moreover, it has a funny language and many examples. I profited enormously after reading it because I had had some bad experiences with writing papers. The book delivers remedies for all the errors I have ever made. Writing papers shouldn't be a problem any longer if you stick to (most of) what the author recommends.
