In practice, requirements engineering tasks have become increasingly complex. In order to ensure a high level of knowledge and competency among requirements engineers, the International Requirements Engineering Board (IREB) developed a standardized qualification called the Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering (CPRE). The certification defines the practical skills of a requirements engineer on various training levels. This book is designed for self-study and covers the curriculum for the Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering Foundation Level exam as defined by the IREB. Über den Autor
Klaus Pohl holds a full professorship for Software Systems Engineering at the Institute for Computer Science and Business Information Systems (ICB) at University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany and an adjunct-professorship at the University of Limerick, Ireland. From 2005 to 2007 he acted as the funding scientific director of Lero, the Irish Software Engineering Research Centre. He received his Ph.D. and his habilitation in computer science from RWTH Aachen, Germany. His research interests include requirements engineering, service-based system engineering, software quality assurance, and software product lines. In 15 years of active involvement in the field of systems engineering, Chris Rupp has built a company, published 6 books, hired 40 employees, and gained plenty of experience. She has spent much of her career working as a project consultant, managing and supporting others as they strive to meet the goals of their individual projects. Out of a desire to relate more closely to customers, she has also begun to lead projects of her own. Her vision is to put good ideas into practice in a way that gives developers, contract partners, and software users the confidence that they are dealing with a valuable and sophisticated product.

As other have written, this is a study guide and does not contain very much useful information. The authors do a good job at outlining many of the typically overlooked concepts in RE. However, do not expect much helpful advice. Don't be fooled by the page count, more than 1/3 of the content is blank space, author recogition, etc. The text reads as if it were translated (from German I bet). Expect klunky run on sentences with unusual structure. I bought it for software requirements management. I am now looking for something practical and useful.
