The Associated Press Suspense with a capital S...

The Plain Dealer (Cleveland) A grippingly readable thriller....Mary Higgins Clark does wonders....

People Remember Me pulls it off brilliantly, harkening back to the best of Daphne DuMaurier.

A killer turns a young family's dream holiday into an unfathomable nightmare....Menley Nichols and her husband, Adam, a criminal attorney, rent a house on Cape Cod, in the hope of restoring their faltering marriage. The birth of their daughter, Hannah, has revitalized their relationship, but Menley has never stopped blaming herself for the accidental death of her two-year-old son. The serenity of the Cape promises a new start.
In Remember House, an eighteenth-century landmark with a sinister past, strange incidents force Menley to relive the accident that killed her son, and she begins to fear for Hannah's safety. Then Adam takes on a client suspected of murder when his wealthy young bride of only three months drowns in a storm -- and the family is drawn into a rising tide of terror. A confrontation on a dark, rain-swept beach leads to a harrowing climax that only Mary Higgins Clark could have created.

5.0 von 5 Sternen YOU WON'T FORGET "REMEMBER ME" 19. Juni 2000
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
Right from the start, this book had me hooked simply because of the Cape Cod setting. Menley and Adam Nichols have rented an old captain's house called The Remember House. As with most very old houses, there is always the rumor that it is haunted. This one is no exception. But Menley has other demons to face besides the ones haunting this house. Her son, Bobby, was killed when a train hit the car Menley was driving. She has been guilt-ridden ever since. Only the birth of their daughter, Hannah, has been able to help Menley with her depression and put their marriage back together. Adam feels that a little rest in such a beautiful place is all that Menley needs to return to her old self.
Shortly after their arrival on the island, Adam, an attorney, becomes enmeshed defending Scott Covey who is accused of murdering his wealthy wife Vivien. While Adam is busy with business, Menley is slowly but surely having a nervous breakdown and it seems to the reader that someone is trying to make her go crazy in true "Hitchcock" style.
As usual, Higgins Clarke throws in some extra characters and clues to throw you off track and hits you with her customary surprise ending.
Please note that I'm giving this book 5 stars for its genre only as well as comparing it to other books by this author.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Three times the mystery, three times the fun 17. Februar 1997

Mary Higgins Clark knows how to write a book that you just can't put down. Her style is to cut rapidly from one character to the next, which can make you a little crazy, but hey--that's what keeps you in suspense, right? Three mysteries in one here--1. Did Scott Covey kill his wealthy wife or didn't he? 2. Is Menley Nichols going crazy over the death of her little boy or is someone trying to make her cuckoo? 3. What really happened between the captain and his wife, who lived in the beautiful old house that Menley and Adam are trying to make a fresh start in? Everything's important here--including the trip Menley's mom is on in Europe. The last page made me smile. Hope you like it, too. .

This book, Remember Me, got me hooked on Christopher Pike, the best author in the whole world. You would know why I got hooked on all his books if you ever read Remember Me. I have never read a book that was so... enjoyable and fantastic! If you don't read this book, I swear, you will probably be missing out on your favorite book of all times.

A lot of people don't like to read. I used to hate to read, but I've loved reading, especially the books that Christopher Pike wrote, ever since I read Remember Me. All my friends love Christopher Pike too!

2.0 von 5 Sternen Nice, but no thrills 6. Dezember 2014

I bought this book because of the overwhelmingly good reviews. But do all these reviews actually refer to "Remember me" by Mary Higgins Clark? I doubt it! First, because many reviews tell about "Christopher Pike" and I see no connection between him and this book!? And second, because this book is a real disappointment for "experienced" thriller fans.

Don't get me wrong: The book is not completely bad from beginning to end. It is a solid read and entertaining, but...
- It is NOT exciting! There is so much being told in the first 80% of the book, but there is absolutely no action, no surprising turns.
- There are actually two strings of action (one murder case and one about a woman with post traumatic stress disorder and the reader waits until the very end of the book for them both being combined. And the combination is no fantastic twist to the story, but a rather weak attempt to make the story work at all.
- The excitement *seems* to start at about 90%, but lasts only for a couple of pages!
- And worst of all:
*******Spoiler alert *******
When Scott tries to drown Menley he obviously lets her go because he hears Adam shouting, so Adam can save Menley (so far reasonable). But on the next page, Scott suddenly sits in police car! There is no clue to how he got there. Did he turn himself in? Didn't he try to escape, fight with Scott? He could even have shot them both - there were no witnesses. This is so not logical and I read this chapter actually three times because I thought I would be missing information. Is the ebook maybe missing a chapter or some pages? What kind of thriller is this, where on about three pages the murder is revealed and without a fight, argument or whatsoever he just disappears in a police car!

4.0 von 5 Sternen remember me 3. März 1999

Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
Remember Me is a story about a young couple who have just recently gone through a tragic accident. Their son was hit by a train while his mother was driving the car. His mother, Menley, continues to blame herself for the death of her son, and now suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. To aid Menely in escaping from her past, Menely, Adam, her husband, and Hannahm their daughter, they decide to rent a house in Cape Cod. Adam had lived there when he was a child and thought its quiet serenity would help ease the pain of their lost son. Adam, who is a defense attorney, gets wrapped up into a case that at first seems like a simple honest case that could be solved. Unfortunately ever since the case began problems for the Nichols clan had began to brew. I greatly enjoyed reading Remember Me. It was a great book. Unfortunately thought the beginning of the book bored me throughout the main portions of the book. It did not really get intense and excititng until the end when the whole mystery began to unravel. Other than that it was a great book, but it is not something I would necessarily recommend to those who really love suspense thrillers. There was enough suspense for those who do not mind not having very much of it.
