Über den Autor
Sheryl Browne grew up in Birmingham, UK, where she studied Art & Design. She wears many hats: a partner in her own business, a mother, and a foster parent to disabled dogs. Creative in spirit, Sheryl has always had a passion for writing. She has previously been published in the US and writes Rom Com because, as she puts it, "life is just too short to be miserable."

I might have taken umbrage, but for the fact that my domestic Goddess gene wasn't so much deficient, as it died, probably at birth. A slave in the kitchen I was not. Slut in the bedroom I could do. Or would quite like to. Somehow, though, I doubted the new man in my life would want to make mad passionate love to the girl who'd just killed off his mother. "Honestly, Lisa…" Becky sighed. "It has to be cooked before you shred it. You can't shred raw chicken, can you?" She was taking the pee now. "Obviously," I dripped, indignant, though there was a good possibility I might have tried.

When I asked Sheryl if she could write a romcom around some recipes, I wasn't sure if she thought I'd lost my whisks... She accepted and said, she'd give it a try. What came of it made me fall in love with Sheryl and romcom! So much so that I decided to start a new imprint just so that I could give her and her books a proper home!
I wasn't an avid romcom reader before Sheryl but now, I am a convert and happily so. It is just amazing how she wrote her story around the recipes I provided and that without even knowing the entire recipe! (At the beginning, she just had the titles!).
I want to read more of her books and am totally prepared to give her new contracts whenever she needs them!

Recipes for Disaster is a madcap comedic romance centered on a mutually attracted couple who can't cook, and a big celebration they have to cook for. You can't help but root for this pair to win the day, along with a mischievious Jack Russell named Rambo. Recipes are sprinkled liberally throughout the book, and I plan to try them out. I can't wait for Sheryl's next fun adventure.

Despite all the hype, and the genre, and the tags and the advertising... I didn't know what to expect when I downloaded this book, and I certainly didn't expect a novel married with a cookery book. And yet... it works! It more than works, it's delicious.
So there's the love story between Lucy... sorry, Lisa and Adam. Adam, whose mother has a big issue with Lisa, whom she keeps calling--yes, you guessed it, Lucy. Potential mother-in-law does not approve of the relationship and things get messy when Lisa decides to impress Adam's mum by cooking. Except: she can't actually cook. Enter best friend Becky to the rescue! If that cast isn't enough to get you hooked, let's not forget Rambo, Lisa's little dog who has a very strong opinion and quite a big impact all by himself. Also Adam's wise-cracking parrot generates plenty of mirth throughout the novel.
In between instalments of this amazing love story, you get: yummy recipes skilfully woven into the plot. Recipes for Disaster is an unusual romance, and an unusual cookery book, but it serves both genres exceptionally well. The book is peppered (pardon the pun) with laugh-out-moments and the tension towards the end has you reading ever faster. The author has a fast, fluid and funny style that makes the novel--love story and recipes--a real treat, and I cannot wait to read more from this intriguing new talent.

Romantic Comedy with a twist...

Sheryl did a wonderful job of combining the romantic comedy storyline with a cookbook venue. While intriguing I wasn't sure she would be able to carry it off but she did. The characters are interesting, the romances moved right along (wow!) and the recipes sound very delicious--just wish I had someone here to cook them for me! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and highly recommend anyone who enjoys a romantic comedy with a twist.
