Refreshing, entertaining and humorous

I hadn't read anything by this author before, so I was not sure what to expect. I made the mistake of starting to read it at 10:30pm. I couldn't put it down. It's not that it was so exciting, there was just never a good point where I wanted to put it down.
The characters were full and complete. The very unique persons populating the town could easily have been made into caricatures, but the weren't. They were treated with care and respect.
While it is, in essence, a love story it was also extremely funny at times. There were many times when I found myself chuckling in amusement. In particular there is a scene where Baylor explains being attacked by a bird that had tears rolling down my cheeks from laughing so hard. I'm not telling more about that scene, you'll just have to read it to believe it.
There are few books I read a second time. This one will be re-read more than once. If you're looking for a steamy, hot & heavy book, this is not it. Although I have to admit Baylor has a tremendous amount of sex appeal. It is a great story anytime you want a little romance and humor. It's a feel good book that doesn't over do it.

I highly recommend this book and any other by LJ Maas. This author is a refreshing voice in the market who provides original story lines and well developed characters. I don't know LJ and I have no personal interest in boosting or bashing her. I just really like her writing. She isn't a formula writer. Each of her books is very different and that's what makes her so talented.
In Rebecca's Cove, we find two main characters who will either learn to love each other or kill one another. Their struggle is frustrating and fun. In addition to becoming attached to BJ and Hobie, I enjoyed the well-developed secondary characters as their interaction with these women added depth to the stories and gave our girls deeper personalities.
If you want to read an original, well-written story with emotion and depth, definitely read Rebecca's Cove.

reminiscent of screwball comedy/romances

This book had me chuckling with its light screwball comedy/romance flavor. Watching big city writer B. J. fall apart both physically and emotionally on the quirky island of Ana Lia while trying to deny her growing interest in the local vet, Hobie Lynn, is a series of comedy of errors. Before B. J. knows it not only is she mellowed by the island, but also by its inhabitants and she comes to appreciate its allure that her grandmother has known for years.
