Kurzbeschreibung

As teenagers, Lindsay and Grady found a love together that few people are lucky enough to ever experience.

When Lindsay Ross decided to visit her aunt for the summer in a small lake town in New York, she didn’t expect anything other than an escape from her demanding parents. She certainly didn’t expect Grady Hawke. At the end of the summer, Lindsay and Grady made plans for their future and vowed to be together forever. Back in New York City, events beyond her control forced Lindsay to turn her back on Grady and their love.

Grady has spent the last five years trying to forget the one girl who broke his heart. But when Lindsay arrives back in town unannounced, will Grady get to know the woman she has become and find out the real reason she left him all those years ago? Or will he push her away for good?

**This book is recommended for a mature audience, age 18 and older, due to language and explicit content.

3.0 von 5 Sternen Hmmmm...MAJOR SPOILERS!!!! 12. August 2013

Okay, I could really like this book if it was not for the hero's vindictive behavior. He was hurt and instead of asking the heroine why she left, he makes bad choices. After first running into the heroine, he gets drunk and takes the town slut back to her place for sex, then he goes to church the next morning to sit beside the heroine so she can smell the sex on him as a payback for leaving him. Then, at another run in, he takes the same slut in a back room, making sure the heroine saw them, and lets her blow him then comes out and winks at the heroine. I did not like him after that. The heroine is mad and hurt but once she understand that the hero thought she did not love him, she was forgiving of his behavior...?? What??? I would be mad as heck. The first time they actually TALK, he asks her why. Why could he not do that first instead of getting what he perceived as payback?? When he finds out why she stopped all contact, he was devastated in his mind because he knew he did wrong. That at least was good to put in the story but the heroine brushes it off and says she understands why he did that. He keeps thinking he will have to grovel and beg for her and is prepared to do it but the heroine tells him not too. I thought he should have been made to suffer for those actions. Why would you want to be with a man who would rather sleep with a woman half the town has been with because he would rather not ask you why earlier??? I would be mad at him for a while. He needed to prove himself more to me that he would be faithful to her and that he was actually sorry for his actions!!!! Other than that, it was a good book. I felt that since this thing with the hero occurred about 35% into the book, it was on my mind the rest of the time which kind of messed up the book for me. Could easily have been a 4 or 5 star rating if at least the hero having sex with the woman was taken out and the blow job scene stayed in. It just seemed more personal for us to read about the hero having sex with another woman after reading about their early feelings and their first time together. They both were not faithful through the 5 years apart so that evens out for me but this is when they are back in each others' lives so bugs me tremendously!!!

1.0 von 5 Sternen Bad juxtaposition of coarse and cute 15. April 2014

Anyone who doesn't guess the heroine's secret within a few pages probably deserves to read this book. It's poorly structured, alternating generic teen romance with coarse language and self-conscious slang. Lindsey is the petite, hot teenager from a background of wealth and privilege. Grady is the tall, tattooed anti-hero, with long hair and a tendency to curse and punch his fist through any handy wall. Despite - or because of - these differences, the two fall permanently in love. Five years of separation later, Lindsey is back in town and Grady is having casual sex with the town slut to show her how much he doesn't care. Lots of yuck factor. The intimate scenes between the unlikely pair include !@#$ words unsuitable for a YA book, and this book is clearly not meant for adults. In fact, I don't think it's suitable for anyone.

5.0 von 5 Sternen 4 1/2 stars for sweet, loving, engaging book!! Enjoyed it to the last sentence! 9. Dezember 2013
Von Reading as much as I can - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
Lindsay Ross is returning to a small town in NY after dropping out of college due to a 'situation' (trying not to reveal too much of the book). Since it is a small town, it takes no time for her to run into her old boyfriend, Grady Hawke. When Lindsay with 16 and visiting her aunt for the summer, she fell in love with a 19 year old Grady. They declared their love for each other and agreed to spend the rest of their lives together.

Lindsay dumps Grady via email 3 months after she leaves the town to go back for school and Grady is devastated.
Seeing Lindsay again (5 years later), he is just angry and pissed off.

This book reunites the two characters, reveals the true reason for Lindsay leaving, and gives these two love birds their well deserved HEA.
Even though this book is in a series, it can be read as a stand alone book.
It was very sweet. This is not a book to be read for it's sex scenes (although I think there are a few, I can't remember since it wasn't important for this book).
I hopped onto the website immediately to write this review because I had a huge smile on my face after I finished.
It's not a complicated book with angsty issues, nor with major plot twists. I genuinely cared about the characters (as well as the other non-main characters as well) and enjoyed reading about them. Wanted to see them happy at the end.

What did I like most?
- The characters. Yes, Grady is a bit of a tool when Lindsay returns to the town, but it shows how hurt he was. If he didn't care, he wouldn't have done anything. He was immature, but he is also only 24. He redeems himself 100% by how he treats her after they reconcile. He 100% loving, caring, loyal and kind. Lindsay is also sweet. She was only 16 when she left, so to expect her to have been more forthright, stronger or rebellious would have been difficult for a girl so young. She takes Grady's anger in stride and when she finally explains, she handles everything going forward perfectly.
- The other characters. They all add to the book. Round out the town, plot and depth to main characters.
- Love story itself. The reunited young lovers was so well done. Thought it flowed easily without major silly interruptions in the form of silly ex's, major misunderstandings, overreactions, etc. Just smooth and easy.
- The pseudo-villain stays villainous. I like that the 'bad' person doesn't do a 180 degree change and is all wonderful and supportive. The villain stays mean. Cool. That's reality for ya.
- The happy ending. I love how happy the happy ending was. Again, smiles.

What I didn't enjoy about this book.....
- How angry Grady was. It didn't make me mad. But I was surprised at the level of his anger, even after 5 years. Am surprised that a 19 year old could truly have fallen in love like that. I could see him avoiding her and being hurt, but his anger was pretty strong. That was a bit surprising.

This book is light, sweet and easy to read. I didn't give it 5 stars because I wish Lindsay's family of origin was more flushed out - didn't feel we knew her super well. But 4 1/2 because if you take it for what it is, a light romance - then it fits that bill. Every romance doesn't need to be heavy. Let's enjoy a light one as much as the heavies.

Enjoy!

5.0 von 5 Sternen A Hidden Gem!!! 21. Juli 2013

This book has not gotten much attention, but it is quite good. The plot is different then most young adult books I have purchased lately. Lindsey is different not the typical immature girl you find yourself wanting to pull your hair out reading about in young adult books, also I really loved Grady who got his heart broken at the start of the story. The author did a wonderful job of going to the past to explain what had happened while telling the story. I would recommend this book to anyone for a quick read that is surprisingly good.

This is the second book in the First and Last Series. I enjoyed this book much more than Safe With You, the formatting and purpose of the story were much more solid. There were times in book one where I wondered who was speaking but I did not find that issue in this particular book. The writing was much more consistent and interesting with the various emotions that Grady felt towards Lindsay being conveyed in a realistic and meaningful method. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
