The book provides the oncology team with guidance on the selection of therapy and the optimal use of radiation for specific cancers. The first 12 chapters review the fundamentals of patient management and the basic concepts that are crucial in the daily practice of radiation oncology. Included are discussions of three-dimensional physics and treatment planning; clinical aspects of three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy; stereotactic irradiation; physics and dosimetry of high dose rate brachytherapy; and nonsealed radionuclide therapy. The remaining 53 chapters describe treatment regimes for all cancer sites and tumour types. Coverage includes pain management and palliation of brain, spinal cord, bone, and visceral metastases.

An excellent concise abstraction of the larger textbook "Principles and Practice of Radiation Oncology". The same scope of content is present, the salient facts are presented in point form with the most important references at the end of each chapter. Abundant diagrams and photographs supplement the text. An excellent companion to Principles and Practice of Radiation Oncology and particularly useful for senior residents and practicing radiation oncologists.

A concise and practical book for practicing radiation oncologists. Covers the salient points from the main Perez textbook. A short basic introduction to each site with anatomy,clinical symptoms, diagnostic work up, staging and treatment options. The radiation planning techniques are well outlined and practical. A must have for daily clinical practice - however not a replacement for the main Perez.
