Whereas Anakin's journal was kind of lacking any depth and was really just another novelization of the movie, this book really gets into Amidala's character, her motivations, and what makes her tick. It clears up all the questions about when she's the queen and when she's Padme, and she lets us into her past a little. The reason this only gets four stars, though, is that I still don't understand the whole "Journal" premise -- why write a series of books from the viewpoint of a character whose story we already know well? Additionally, I feel that the author, while she has a very firm grasp of the Star Wars characters, lacks an understanding of the way the SW universe works. She keeps referring to "the galaxies," though last time I checked SW only takes place in one.
Overall this is a well-written book for those that want to get to know the queen better, but it is still just another retelling of TPM.

I love Star Wars. I have Anakin's journal, Amidala's journal, Luke's journal, and I've read Princess Leia's journal. This is a great Book Series. I learned so many more details about her and the movie. I give this 5 stars and Jude Watson is my favorite Star Wars author.

I loved this book! It provides a lot of information not found in the movie. It was great to see how Amidala and Sabe switched identities. I really enjoyed being able to see the Star Wars universe through the eyes of a girl who is approximately my age. All in all, this is a must-have for all Star Wars fans!!

Very Excellent
This book helped me understand where Queen Amidala was coming and what kind of person she is. I thought that, her journal was a walk-way into her character. I loved it!!

Great book!
This was a very interesting Journal! After seeing the movie, I finally know who was really the queen when! It provided great information that the movie could have never shown.

May be aimed at kids, but satisfies adults too

Every Star Wars Fan MUST read this book.
