Wow -- this Amazon system is a fantastic resource, and one heck of a fast server. My eyes are still recovering from all the documentation I had to plow through to write my book, so I think I'm going to find it easier to locate books via Amazon than by kneeling down sideways to find them in a bookstore. Someone always trips over my legs!

Computer books seem to be a little like buses -- you wait ages for one to come along that's going to your destination, and then three or four come along at the same time. I see (thanks to this system) that there are about to be three or four other books on Netscape plug-ins.

Good though they undoubtedly are, I claim mine is special for a couple of reasons. First, it might be one of the last computer books you'll read that was written by a single person instead of a comittee. Second, it covers Windows 95, Windows 3.1 and Macintosh on an equal basis -- instead of being a Windows book that just gives lip service to Mac users.

New plug-ins for Netscape are appearing weekly, so this book doesn't cover each one on the market. With reviews, HTML examples, and information on how to get 50 or 60 of them, though, I hope I've managed to squeeze in more than in any of the other books.

The CD-ROM has lots of plug-ins on it (for all three types of computer) plus links you can use to download all the rest.

You might have heard that Netscape 4.0 will soon be in beta. Don't let that put you off: This book is much more about the plug-ins, how to use them, and how to produce content for them (with all the tips and hints I could squeeze in) than it is just another Netscape book.
