Dr. Kim Chronister is a health psychologist, wellness, and relationship expert. She earned a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Alliant International University (CSPP). While working her way through her undergraduate program, she became a certified personal trainer successfully changing the lives of numerous clients. While pursuing her master’s degree in clinical psychology, she worked as a therapist at AIDS Services Foundation (ASF). During her placement at ASF, Dr. Kim Chronister facilitated a substance abuse group and provided individual as well as couples therapy to clients of diverse backgrounds. While pursuing her doctoral degree in clinical psychology, she provided individual, couples, and group therapy to clients suffering from anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder at an inpatient eating disorder unit in an acute psychiatric facility in southern California. She has extensive experience utilizing dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with clients struggling with eating disorders, interpersonal issues, substance use disorders, anxiety, obesity, and depression. She also utilizes motivational interviewing (MI) to help clients regain motivation to engage in physical activity to decrease stress and improve mood. Dr. Chronister uses a strength-based approach and focuses on strengths of individuals and couples rather than pathology. As a wellness expert, Dr. Chronister has been asked to comment on such subjects as weight loss motivation, relationships, and eating disorders for respected magazines and documentaries. Her passion for health as it relates to clinical psychology is evidenced in her new book “The Psychology Behind Fitness Motivation: A Revolutionary New Program to Lose Weight and Stay Fit for Life.” Dr. Chronister emphasizes in her writing and clinical practice the importance of exercise on mood and overall well-being for individuals and couples. Dr. Kim Chronister has been featured in such publications as: Yahoo News, Fitbie, The National Psychologist, Edge, A & U Magazine, among many other publications.

Really related with this book and so motivating most importantly it teaches you how to get into great shape and maintain that lifestyle. Which I found motivating all around basically bringing me back to the life style in which I was born to live, healthy and feeling great about my self. I've been through so many books about fitness and motivation but this one really nails it. I'm already looking forward to the authors next book...

This book is a definite must read for anyone looking to get into shape or for anyone who is already in shape. This book can teach you not only how to get that extra weight off but also how to keep it off. It's a very easy read and very interesting to learn about. It is the 'go to' book to help you train your body in exercise and motivation. This could be a great gift for anyone interested in health and fitness. Really loved it.

Lately I have been in a funk and needed some extra motivation. In the section "Improvements in Mood and Self Worth" Dr. Kim Chronister states that "engagement in fitness routines has been shown to improve an individuals ability to take back control of one's life."

I've started small with taking walks at work at lunch time and walking to closer destinations that driving. I have also started to cook for myself and follow portion control guidelines to keep me from overeating.

The "Fitness Motivation Toolbox" later in the book is a great section to really focus on yourself and what drives you.

This book is worth the time and energy and you will not be disappointed!

I have always been a firm believer that health, wellness and fitness are all heavily impacted by a person's psychological state. I am not a skinnie minnie and there is no doubt in my mind that much of it is in my mind... I love all the scientific evidence references but ultimately this book is a reinforcement of my feelings over the years. Most of us have a really good idea about how to eat properly and diet properly but then life gets in the way and messes that all up. I will definitely be using this book as a reference as a move forward trying to come to grips with my health and wellness.

I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to my family and friends and to anyone seeking a comprehensive, well outlined course of action to get on the health track. I appreciate the thought that went into this scientific based model and the fact that it is based on stages. This makes me feel like I can manage it. I also feel this book is important because it is not just about getting my body strong but also helping me reduce stress. I totally love the information on how to feel good (better) as I work a full time job and also own and operate a small charity. If you are a Diabetic like me, even if you are still on your medications, I would suggest you peruse this interesting piece of literature and add it to your arsenal to stay healthy and balanced.
