this book is very well outlined and prepared. As a novice in programming i find this book extremely easy to follow. Unlike other authors who say they have sophisicated degrees but have crappy layout planning when writing a book!
This author first points out, in examples, what qbasic could be used for and then proceeds on with qbasic codes while explaining them simply without too complex syntax or heavy programming jargon or confusing paragraph formats. And then at the end the author reviews over acadmeic mathematics that are needed and that may be used in qbasic programs.
Even though this book doesn't sport a fancy cover or interanl graphics; it very well guides a beginner and novice "ONLY" in understanding the foundations of qbasic programming and with oppurtunities for practical applicatioins(with applied concepts in everyday life)!
There are alot of wanna be programmers or etc without a solid computer science engineering background; so they call themselves an IT major or etc. For a beginining engineering student this book will identifiy the remedial basics to proceed to other languages and more advanced languages; i.e. visual bassic, C+, 386 assembler, and other high and low level languages.
Remember, mark zuckerbergs parents hired a tutor to teach there son qbasic thereby allowing their son to almost create any program in qbasic minus the heavy graphics and it was from the qbasic foundation that the greatest programmings skills are obtained! one cannot just jump into C++, fortran, pascal without the proper requisites! qbasic still has many decades left. I see alot of wanna be programmes trying to cram C++ skills without any prequisites. Lets see how they grasp fortran, pascal, cobol and advanced cobol, and other machine lanaguages. Its like trying to take precalculus III and/or differential equations or linear algebra without all the prerequisites.
to iterate, this book is VERY Well outlined. Other so called professors and teachers of IT could take note from this author!!! This book is geared towards a high school student who is taking AP(advance placement) classes and or "higher academic learning mind" (it is recommended persuers of programming have at least a minimum math of--geometry, college math(advanced algebra), trignometry. However, because of the layout of this book; its possible anyone who has sincere discipline may accomplish the tasks of this book progressively.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BUY! Don;t be foold by fancy looking covers or fancy looking graphics. This book is the bomb in learning "qbasic" programming skills for DIY (do-it-yourselfers).
