Chomsky's book is great and contains more
important thoughts on economic issues than most
economics textbooks. I say this as an academic
economist! When I browsed for the book I found
some comments wich condemn the book with the
argument that Chomsky knows nothing about economics. I retort: Apparently most economists now nothing about reality.
Their Ignorance is
incredible: Even if all the ultraliberal
economies in Latin America remained some more hundred years in economic disaster and inequality stinking to heaven, they would claim this were just a consequence of too less openness of markets.
But most economic models wich give the simple
results justifying neoliberalism are based on a
concept of man which is valid for greedy managers
or cynical politicans but not to the mass of people suffering under the control of them.
Thus I recommend the book as a reading especially for economists. Why going on reading about marginal product rules, which apply only
for some special markets. And even if the marginal
product rules apply, can they give us any hint on
how to solve economic problems with a humanitarian
aspect?
As an further example I ask: who (except) economist believes in simple-minded
median voter models in order to explain political
processes?
Thus if you want to solve problems of our world, read this book

Format:Taschenbuch
This isn't the type of reporting you want to hear, but it is the type of reporting you must hear if you believe in the democratic ideals this country was founded upon. Some might find something wrong with whistleblowing, but if you don't and you're not afraid to confront some disturbing truths, then grab this book and read it and think about how you can change this world. There must be something seriously disturbing in Chomsky's writing to the right wing to provoke such truth twisting and distortion in order to attempt to discredit Chomsky. If you want to know what they're afraid of, read this book (or any of Dr. Chomsky's other books, for that matter!

Since Noam Chomsky is ignored by the mainstream media, the best way to communicate with the public is by writing such books. And he is excellent in doing so.
The book deals with the neoliberal order, since its predominance from and during the Reagan-Thatcher era.
The book informs the public the following:
a) Corporate control over the Government and the media.
b) The Governement control over its population by spreading falsified notions about democracy, capitalism and freedom.
c) The author informs and reasons out that capitalism and democracy don't work hand-in-hand. Infact one is an anti-thesis to another.
This book is for creating awareness among the public.
