The only 2 people who have high marks for this book must have been the author and publisher. The English is horrible (I had to translate the "English" in my head as I read) and the code examples are *verbatim* from Microsoft help files and support pages.
OWC seems to be a powerful tool if used properly, but there are almost no resources available to learn. I am new to ASP.NET programming, and have not used ActiveX controls before, so my wish was that this book could give me a start with both. My consulting company ordered 2 copies of this book based on a review, and when we read it, we immediately realized it was 95% garbage, 4% confusing, and about 1% helpful. The helpful information can be found in the Office help files and on the Microsoft support pages.
WARNING: If you value your time and money, you will STAY away from this book!
There is a new book out called The Office Web Components Black Book with .NET...it looks promising, but we shall see. It should be at Amazon in the next couple of months.
