ASP.NET 4.5 remains Microsoft's preferred technology for creating dynamic websites, providing developers with unrivaled power and flexibility.

Pro ASP.NET 4.5 in C# is the most complete reference to ASP.NET that you will find. This comprehensively revised fifth edition will teach you everything you need to know in order to create well-designed ASP.NET websites. Beginning with core concepts the book progresses steadily through key professional skills. You'll be shown how to query databases in detail, consider the myriad applications of XML, and step through all the considerations you need to be aware of when securing your site from intruders. Finally, you'll consider advanced topics such as using client-side validation, jQuery and Ajax.

By the time you have read this book you will have learned all the skills you need to use ASP.NET 4.5 with confidence.

What you’ll learn

  • Become familiar with Web API , one of the biggest additions to ASP.NET 4.5, and understand how to use it and integrate it within your existing ASP.NET applications.
  • Discover and the Entity Framework and how to perform data binding to in web applications.
  • Learn the ASP.NET security features and how to best apply them.
  • Examine in detail advanced user interface techniques, including user controls, server controls, custom controls and client-side JavaScript.

Who this book is for

This book is aimed at developers with a basic understanding on the .NET Framework who want to learn how to use it in a professional environment. Migrating readers without this foundation would be well served by reading Beginning ASP.NET 4.5 in C#, also by Apress, before tackling this book.

2.0 von 5 Sternen Poorly Organized fo a Pro Book! 12. September 2014

Poorly organized for a pro book. The table of contents is basically useless, since it's primarily steps in an Example project rather than core code topics. It's structured more like a for-beginners book that typically focus on an Example project that is gradually developed from the first chapter to the last. Not my cuppa tea!! I should have stuck to WROX ASP.NET PRO that I've been using for ever, I just didn't want the apparent waste of having both VB and C# in the same book, and I thought the APRESS book would be more concise and richer. Boy was I wrong. Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of useful information in the book, only if you can find it. You'd be better of consulting MSDN's knowledge-base article to find what you need quickly!

The worst thing about the book in my opinion is Author's unabashed disdain for ASP.NET WEB-FORMS and web server controls (in a book that's supposed to be about web-forms). He drones on and on about how much MVC is better than WEB-FORMS, like experienced pro developers don't already know the difference. Web-Forms event driven architecture uniquely suits my current application development needs, and when I'm developing an application suited to the MVC paradigm, I'll simply dust up my MVC books. So, if you're a pro developer, stick with the ASP PRO published by WROX (they really rock!) and avoid this book or any books for beginners. They are not worth the trouble.

4.0 von 5 Sternen good WebForms reference on the most recent ASP.NET version 17. September 2014
Von Cristi S. - Veröffentlicht auf
Format:Kindle Edition
One of the most complete references for the "traditional" ASP.NET WebForms (no MVC, Razor, Web API or Web Pages) in C# to date.

3.0 von 5 Sternen Good book 13. März 2015

I don't usually like giving negative feedback for books, because you'll always find something useful on them.

I bought this book after using this e-book version and read it on my 23 inches computer screen. The book has almost all the information that you may need to know about ASP.NET 4.5. The reason I gave the feedback is because of the way the publisher typed the texts. The texts look exactly as what you would see in a manual that came with an item. There's no spaces at all between the lines, and the most of the paragraphs are huge. I thought it was because the author was trying to cover everything in fewer pages, but after I bought 2 other books from the same publishers, I notice all of them are the same, even a smaller Web API book with less than 100 pages.

Please Apress, make your books more readable.

Excellent book for learning and for reference. This book helped me to learn and solidify C# concepts and features. There are lengthy explanations of C# features which help me grasp a full understanding of the C# features. I do not know if I would have passed the Microsoft C# certification exam without this book and the C# Illustrated book by Daniel Solis. You have to search for resources to learn and prepare for the exam and I purchased this book and it resulted in a great purchase. This author knows how the C# language interacts with the .NET Framework.
