Only 3 stars because....

So what's the deal with this? I won't give you a summary of this book, you need no spoilers (maybe hints), you just want to know if you should read it.
If you are like me, you got hooked on the Prince of Thorns. If you are like me, you love characters like Jorg Ancrath. Most likely, you won't like the protagonist of this book. He is not your daily fantasy hero, granted, but Prince Jalan Kendeth is the kind of person who has too much potential to grow (in any direction) to be to your liking. Coward, liar, cheat and fool.... lazy on top. At his side, we got his opposite, a Viking named Snorri ver Snagason and together they travel the path I want to call "The Hills of Comic Relief". Don't get me wrong, this is still Marc Lawrence and he has a knack for gory fighting and let's not forget the touch of undead in his scenes.
You won't find any new Builder mysteries (except the home of a witch from the north maybe) and it's far from the sea of blood spilled by the fights that has paved Jorg's travel route crimson.
Then why should you read this book? If you are like me, you will read it because you are looking for hints and bits of background story from the first trilogy. In this book, you'll find other already missed characters and tales about them. This book may not be the kind of novel that enchants you on the first page but it is still a good and funny thing to read with a touch of magic, a pinch of Norse mythology and glimpses of the Broken Empire you haven't seen yet.
So three stars because "I liked it", it just wasn't amazing.
