5.0 von 5 Sternen Straight to the point! 12. Juli 2011
Von Sdennis42 - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
I have read many SharePoint books and they have spoken of doing everything with PowerShell but THIS BOOK here really gets to the point of it! I love the bold headlines of each "How-To" he speaks of and then tadaaa the actual cmdlet! Not a whole lot of talk and discussion. Sometimes as an Admin i just wanna get to what i need and then study it later. This book brings it in a form of "You wanna do what? Well this is how you do it, buddy". You go from the very basics of opening PowerShell to "throttling Access memory utilization" in no time. So to any fellow SharePoint Admins that are a bit afraid of using PowerShell for SharePoint, be afraid no more. I highly recommend this book! It is the real deal of doing everything about SharePoint in Powershell. Thanks Mr. Mann (because this book also helped me pass my exam)

4.0 von 5 Sternen Great Resource for PowerShell and SharePoint Beginners 16. Juli 2011
Von SharePointRyan - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
This is a great book for someone looking for information on the available cmdlets for Windows PowerShell in SharePoint 2010. While this book doesn't go into some of the more advanced capabilities of PowerShell, I didn't expect that from it. If you're looking for a great introduction to using PowerShell with SharePoint, this book is for you - if you're already comfortable with basic PowerShell cmdlet use and SharePoint administration, and you're looking for more advanced script writing or cmdlet development how-tos; you may want to look into some of the other PowerShell books for SharePoint 2010.

Overall, an easy read with well formatted explanations.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Great PowerShell Reference Guide 30. Juli 2011
Von Justin Fentress - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
I have been working with SharePoint for about six years with the majority of that being MOSS 2007 where I highly utilized STSADM commands. While I have been enjoying all the new capabilities that come with SharePoint 2010, I was hesitant about leaving my STSADM comfort zone and embracing PowerShell.

However I knew that sooner or later I would need to take the plunge and was greatly encouraged when I came across this book that it right away provided me a high-level, easy to comprehend overview as well as very insightful tips and tricks. I enjoyed the layout of the book where it provides a scenario, solution, samples, and explanation of scripts/process being used. Also, an additional plus is that Appendix A provides a correlation of STSADM commands and their counterpart PowerShell cmdlets.

Overall this book is a great reference guide that can be used to help automate repetitive procedures and provides solid information to get you up and running quickly. While this book mainly caters towards beginners-intermediates, I still recommend it for any level as it is a great resource to have on-hand.

5.0 von 5 Sternen A real "How To" reference book! 18. Juli 2011
Von TechRevMarrell - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
I thought PowerShell for SharePoint 2010 was going to be another guide for using PowerShell with some information about the history and some basic examples of how it can be used in SharePoint 2010. Instead what I found was the perfect Reference Guide in clear and easy to read steps of "how to" get work done with PowerShell. It gives hundreds of examples of PowerShell cmdlet's, details on what they do, and real world examples of why you'd actually use the command. The book is broken out into Sections based what you're doing, such as command for managing web applications, commands for databases management, Sessions etc... which makes it perfect when you have a request to do such and such and you have an idea of what the command is, but don't remember exactly how to string it together. I think this book is a great resource addition for anyone getting started with PowerShell and SharePoint 2010 as well as a seasoned professional who may have been using PowerShell for many months.

I would highly recommend this simple to use reference for any SharePoint 2010 administrators. The book not only outlines the PowerShell commands to make your job easier, it also provides clear scenarios in which the commands may be executed. Great book, cannot recommend it highly enough.
