Kurzbeschreibung

The series started in 2009 with Post-human, followed by it's sequel, 2011's Trans-Human, and then leading to the prequel, published in the summer of 2012, Sub-Human. The trilogy can be read in the order of publication or in the chronological order of the entire epic story. The ebook is ordered according to the narrative, but reading it in the order of publication is its own, rewarding experience. It's all up to your preference.
Readers have taken to calling this the "Human Series," and why not? It's the story of humanity's future, both the possible bliss, the possible torment, and all of the in between. It might expand your view of what "human" really means, it might make you consider the pleasures and pains of immortality, and reflect on the extraordinary benefits and profound danger of strong A.I. All of this delivered in an epic series, paced faster than most novels, with twists and turns around almost every page, and a set of characters with whom you'll fall in love.

2.0 von 5 Sternen Nice topic, badly written 28. Januar 2013

The singularity has come and gone and the trilogy takes 3 snaps of what happened after. There are great thoughts in there and they seem to be well thought through. But the characters are 1-dimensional, and you can't really believe that they're behaving like kids in an American highschool... I wonder if it had a real editor.

1.0 von 5 Sternen Zuviel des Absurden 23. Februar 2013

4.0 von 5 Sternen Nice Series Packed Into One Compilation 28. November 2012
Von Michael Gallagher - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

I judge my science fiction based upon a modified version of the Baen criteria, and for this one I was looking at is the technology something I can understand, is the storyline plausible (especially in light of the technology), and was it an overall good read. I think Mr. Simpson hits it on those fronts, and he must have done a pretty good job as I have thought about this book for several times after reading it - considering the number of books I read on a monthly basis, that is impressive (to me, at least). Without having a spoiler, this one really focuses in on the technology of the future and doesn't have the shoot `em up aspects of humans vs. aliens that many people enjoy.

I will call b.s. on about the last 15% of the third story in the series - it gets a little crazy and some of it is a big stretch of the imagination - and book 3 of the series is a little bit of a comedown from book 2 which I thought was very good.

As I type this review, the Kindle price is free vs. the normal pricing of $5.99 for the Kindle version of the compilation - you're going to get a lot more than $5.99 in value. If you like a good science fiction tale, this is an overall good series despite my "last 15%" comment above.

5.0 von 5 Sternen 3 great SciFi books in 1 - WILL NOT DISAPPOINT 24. November 2012

For the first time this awesome and high entertaining trilogy is available in 1 book giving new and old readers alike the chance to enjoy this truly enthralling and riveting series in a whole new way.

The "Human" series is set in an amazingly high tech world - The technology is amazing and will be sure to keep even the most die hard fan of the genre on the edge of their seat at the possibilities BUT where this trilogy surpasses many others is that despite the bells and whistles there is also a heavy human element to the story - The characters have abilities we can only dream of but the issues they face and the questions they must answer are ones we can all relate to.

The series is well written and highly engaging, for fans of Transhumanism and just general Science Fiction stories this series is a must have and now as an added bonus you can save yourself a few dollars!

In short if you purchase this book (And you should.) you will be getting a collection that will provide you with an action packed SicFi thrill ride that you will not easily forget. And you will want to read it again.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Bargain for all 3! 24. November 2012

Post-Human Review:
I picked up 'Post-Human' on the recommendation of a friend. Worth every penny! It's great to have a new sci-fi author on the scene (especially a Canadian one; we are in short supply). Simpson crafts a fantastic and plausible(in a sci-fi sort of way) tale about the consequences of taking downloading and the internet too far. What I like about the novel is that the author takes the natural progression of computers to the extreme level. With the rate of speed of developing technology, we always have to wonder how far it could possibly go. The novel answers that question without being preachy or getting too heady. I like the novel for its simplicity and complexity. The concept isn't over-the-top or ridiculously dense; it is a simple story. But, the subtext is rich with commentary on God, religion, and humanity. I don't want to give too much away, but I recommend 'Post-Human' to anyone who loves comic books and sci-fi. It's great to have a new Canadian author who isn't pre-occupied with the bush, the land, the weather, and isn't Margaret Atwood!
Trans-Human Review:
It's rare in entertainment that one will find that a follow-up story or sequel that matches or even transcends the original. For every Terminator 2 or Dawn of the Dead, there are five Terminator 3's. David Simpson's Trans-Human fortunately dodges this bullet and presents an entertaining and thoughtful sequel to his Post-Human novel. The story keeps us with the same, future universe that Simpson introduced us to in his first novel. We have most of the same characters confonting a new threat. I think anyone who is even remotely into sci-fi/fantasy will get something out of Trans-Human. The autor incorporates some interesting theories and science into the story and does not attempt to spoon-feed it to the reader. You really need to pay attention. In fact, it is one of those books that you should really read twice to get all the little things you might have missed the first time. Another thing I like about the novel are the characters. Simpson seems to be a fan of classic, fictional heroes who are determined to do the right thing. He presents most of his protagonists this way and gives you characters you can really care about and cheer for. The threats in the novel shift consistently and you never really know who the bad guy really is. It is almost like a galactic whodunit. Simpson's writing has really grown in this novel has the storyline is more sophisticated and multi-layered. I did have an issue with the characterization of Old-timer. I don't eant to give spoilers, but there was some inconsistencey. However, I think Simpson might havebeen planting seeds for another follow-up. All in all, really good! Simpson is really coming into his own as a novelist. I am looking forward to reading his new one, The God Killers!

Absolutely loved this - devoured the trilogy as one long story, and they fit together perfectly. A standout modern tale, smart and perceptive and rollicking. Even grew to like some of the characters!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Sci-Fi Treat 28. November 2012
Von Nell Jones - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
These three books provide an enjoyable adventure into the future with the inevitable controversy about what should and should not be allowed to advance civilization. The lure of advancements in technology that make life so much easier and practically eliminate death or disabling injury is irresistible to the scientific minded, while others see it as threatening and controlling. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and the action, and can easily see this trilogy becoming a series of movies. I look forward to more books by David Simpson who shows great imagination and creativity in this genre.
