Jones' book is a much needed contemporary and comprehensive volume to the vascular flora of Kentucky. But be warned, the keys focus mainly on the reproductive stages for identification and the illustrations are somewhat vague. The book has an excellent first hundred or so pages which introduces the history of floristic botany and conservation in Kentucky, the state's physiographic conditions, and different habitats and plant communities. The book also contains an extensive glossary (a big help). All together a valuable addition to the professional or amateur botanist's library.
