REVISED AND UPDATED April 2015 with new content on homeschooling rhythms, links to helpful online content and resources, and even more practical advice!

"This book was invaluable for a beginning homeschooler like me. What an incredible resource for planning our future as a homeschool family!"-Heidi Rohland, homeschooler of two

"I found myself wanting to take a dip into this fun and creative world that Alicia describes throughout the book. I even had moments wishing that I was one of her kids in this home that doesn't live confined to a calendar or clock, but strives to make life the library of learning. Reading this felt much like an afternoon of coffee with a close friend that you don't want to end."--Caryn Jenkins, homeschool mom of two

"Homeschooling families will appreciate Alicia's refreshingly simple approach to tackling organization and flexibility--two keys to a successful learning environment. Whether readers are new to homeschooling, or have years of experience, this book gives invaluable tips in how to organize your homeschool while maintaining enough flexibility for everyday life."-Eryn Bollish, homeschooling mom of four

"Plan to Be Flexible is replete with first-hand, Christ-directed examples from her family's school days. Alicia's approach explores how to maintain the utmost confidence as academics, life skills, and spiritual character are instilled--no matter the season of life. I loved this book!"--Kelli Tague, veteran homeschooling mom of six

"What a great resource for the homeschooling community!"--Mike Yorkey, author of more than 75 books, including the Every Man's Battle series

Overwhelmed by the challenge of homeschooling in the real world? Are rewarding school days possible in the midst of errands, laundry piles and extracurricular activities?

Absolutely! Let Plan To Be Flexible show you how.

Born out of one mom's struggle to find order and peace, reading this book is like having a coffee with someone that's "been there, done that." Plan to Be Flexible's focus on "rhythms" instead of a rigid schedule testifies to how free-form learning (and the realities of daily life) can happily co-exist within the framework of a goal-oriented plan. You will:

* Analyze what's working (and what's not) in your homeschool

* Develop a flexible and goal-oriented curriculum plan for each student

* Discover why rhythms (not schedules) are the secret to homeschooling sanity

* Learn how to homeschool with joy and freedom

Full of practical ideas and real-life stories, this book is an incredible resource to establish the flexible, rhythm-based homeschooling lifestyle you and your family have been looking for!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Wonderfully useful book for even veteran homeschoolers! 27. August 2013

I've been homeschooling for 7 years and have read so much about it, it doesn't often feel like I'm learning many new things anymore. However this book is different. This book is full of real life examples, encouragement, and suggestions. So many hit home with me and I was immediately able to start applying them. I'm currently working on our homeschool curriculum choices and schedule for our upcoming school year and have been using this book in every step of the process. Each chapter ends with an "action plan" which keeps me focused on direction and goals. As a bonus - if you like making lists this is the kind of book that will make your heart beat a bit faster with delight as you read it and get ideas! If you don't like making lists then don't worry - Alicia will walk you through making a plan and you'll love the results.

Here is a summary of this book, from the back cover:
- analyze what's working (and what's not) in your homeschool
- learn the fine art of living within (but not under) a schedule
- develop a living, flexible curriculum plan for each student
- discover how to homeschool with joy and freedom

This is one homeschool book that has so many great tips I know I'll be re-reading it many times!

This book has freed me so much in how to homeschool. I always felt horrible for not getting 'school' done. She is right when she says this flexible homeschooling requires a leap of faith and she has given me the courage to do so and to give myself grace. Anyone want to join me?

Found this book through a comment on another blog. So glad I did. I am going to use it today to help plan my second year of teaching my kids. This book is perfect whether you are unschooling or classically schooling or anything in between. It makes me excited to get started. I have been to seminars and read everything I could for the last three years in preparation for starting homeschooling. This is the final piece to planning our journey.

5.0 von 5 Sternen WONDERFUL! 24. Juli 2014

This book was exactly what I needed at exactly the right time! I have struggled with the planning portion of our homeschool life from the very beginning. We tried the boxed curriculum, workbooks, rigid schedules, unschooling, and NONE of it was quite right. I have sampled every planner available and read more books than I care to count on planning lessons and structuring our day. This book is filled with wonderful advice about finding a rhythm that works for your family, asking yourself specific questions to help establish how, why, and with which resources your family will learn best, and how to give yourself grace when the unexpected happens. I loved it.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Good overview of planning for your homeschool 30. Mai 2014

She does a good job of presenting a well-rounded view of homeschooling. It's very helpful, especially for a new homeschoolers to have these steps an considerations laid out that you may not have thought of. It does feel a little repetitive by the end. I, personally, didn't gain much new information that I hadn't heard or read elsewhere- but I have scoured blogs and books before beginning to plan my first year. For someone who hasn't already done this, it would be a great place to start.
