In the latest story of the Elder Races, two mates face their deadliest challenge yet—each other…

Pia and Dragos’s magical young son Liam (the Peanut), is growing at an unprecedented rate, and if that isn't enough, he is also exhibiting new, and unpredictable, magical gifts. To protect him, the concerned parents decide to move to upstate New York.

Both Dragos and Pia relish the idea of leaving behind the city. They finally have the space to indulge their Wyr side, and Liam can grow in safety. It’s a breath of fresh air—literally—but their idyllic situation is shattered when Dragos is injured in a freak accident.

Stripped of his memory and bereft of Pia’s taming influence, there’s nothing holding back Dragos’s darkest side. And in order to restore her family and save her mate, Pia must confront the most powerful menace in Elder Races history.

It’s going to take more than a penny to fix this…

PIA SAVES THE DAY is part of a three-story series about Pia, Dragos, and Peanut. Each story stands alone, but fans might want to read all three: DRAGOS TAKES A HOLIDAY, PIA SAVES THE DAY, and PEANUT GOES TO SCHOOL.

Note: this is a novella from the "Elder Races" series, so is the most fun to read the book as part of the series and not as a standalone. Especially since the world, the wyr and especially all the characters concerned are introduced there. So if you are new to the Elder Races, I recommend to start with "Dragon Bound".

Coming to understand that they have to leave their NY City skyscraper for the sake of their rapidly developing son Liam [aka peanut], Pia and Dragos are moving upstate New York. While the new compound gets additional buildings, a tragic accident happens that leaves Dragos without memories. Any memories.

So it's up to Pia to find a way to get her mate back and not end up dead while doing so. And she and the dragon have their first encounter once again, when she tries anything in her power to make him remember her.

That was a wonderfully written novella about Pia and Dragos! They are my preferred couple in the "Elder Races" series, so I loved coming back to them and especially seeing them in that taxing situation. It totally is Pia's moment to show what she is made of and boy is she fabulous.

But let's not forget the dragon: cranky, distrustful Dragos is even better to read about. His thoughts on Pia and himself are alternately hilarious and wretched. This whole story is not about action or events, but wholly about Pia and Drago's relationship and what makes it so strong and unique. Consequently, there aren't many other characters on display, but strangely, it did not miss them at all [although the peanut is quite cute to read about].

So, if you like the Cuelebres, this novella is for you, Pia and Dragos and their relationship truly shine here.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Dragos Blackout 18. Juli 2014

4.0 von 5 Sternen Pia and Dragos always deliver 23. Juni 2014

These characters are tried and true. Thea Harrison knows these characters inside out and upside down. "Dragos takes a Holiday" had a joyous feel to it. This story is very much crisis centered. Thea Harrison is not afraid to take risks and she unfolds a story in her way and in her time. This is the difference between a good writer and a great writer. There is a feeling of nostalgia and sadness in this story. It is wonderful to see such a tight focus on Pia and Dragos. I love Peanut but it was nice to have Pia and Dragos be in the spotlight for a bit. For those who are looking for Peanut he's on the sidelines for this novella. It was necessary for the story for this to happen. I gave it 4 stars because it was not as great as the other stories, The chemistry between Apia and Dragos was a little different in this book so it did not pack the same kind of punch for me. I still enjoyed it and will reread it!

4.0 von 5 Sternen Another great, but ending left me empty 25. Juni 2014

Loved the story, as I always do with Pia & Dragos, but the ending? It left me... Yeah. Just like that sentence didn't give you an answer, that is how the ending was for me. I want to know if Dragos heals, regains more of his memory, etc. I was really hoping, once Peanut showed on the scene, that Dragos would have his memories "click" back into place. It didn't happen, it just ended.

A good Elder Race Novella, but one filled with a lot of angst & sorrow with little answers. Guess we have to wait for the next Novella, or Novel, and hope that Thea gives us the answers to the questions she created. Enjoy! =)

5.0 von 5 Sternen A Reading the Paranormal Recommended Read 22. Juni 2014

I've adored Pia and Dragos since their first book. Their relationship has been one of the cornerstone romances of this series and this book tossed that relationship on its ear and shook things up a bit. I'll freely admit I got a little teary while reading it. Pia's desperation and desire to help Dragos got to me. I JUST WANT THOSE TWO TO BE HAPPY!

Dragos's memory loss is both dangerous and heartbreaking. As a powerful Wyr, he could do a lot of damage to innocents without realizing who he's hurting. As Pia's mate, his inability to remember her shatters her. Yet, she has to remain strong for both him and for those who look to them as their leaders. *sniffle* Seriously, her situation slayed me.

We get to see plenty of familiar faces and watch Dragos reconstruct so many of the people and moments we've experienced with him since Pia first stole that penny. Not going to lie, I love revisiting this family and am incredibly excited to read Peanut's story.

3.0 von 5 Sternen A bit of disappointment 1. Juli 2014

I love all the Pia and Dragos books and especially enjoyed the Dragos takes a vacation short story, but this one....was lacking...would be the best way to describe it. I thought the story premise was excellent, but I think it needed more words written in order to work out the resolution. It would have been much more interesting to see Dragos take longer to deal with his problem and Pia actually have to do more to save the day (trying not to write any spoilers). And then I was disappointed by the ending, although I assume that has something to do with the next short story so I'll save judgement for that story.

I finished this story in less than two hours and now I want more. Pia and Dragos are my favorite characters in the Elder series. It's kind of like eating potato chips. Who can stop at one? We need more to read. I have really enjoyed the action and humor in Ms. Harrison's stories. I like the mix of Weyr and other species. I like reading about how the various friendships and relationships grow and change over the course of time. I love all the snarky comments.
I hope there are many more adventures with Pia as she is always fun to follow. I am eagerly looking forward to Pia's next story due out in July. Please keep more stories about Pia and Dragos coming. I don't think you can write them fast enough.
