The first two books of the Phule-series were great. Big fun, great story, everything you would expect from a book from an author like Asprin. But the 3rd book (A Phule and his money) was already a step down... and now this one. It was just a plain story, that tried to borrow some humour out of the previous book, which already had borrowed it's humour from its previous book, so that there is nothing left of it than a mere shadow. There were no real gags in the whole book, no wordplay, no lighthearted reading. Something that was normaly included in every book from Asprin. Well... it is not BAD, but it's just not what was promised by the first two books, and far below previous Asprin-books. And the plot could have been worked into a good book... but got sadly wasted.
