Funniest Radio Show of All Time!!!

I may only be thirty-one years old but I have been a fan of old time radio shows all of my life. However, it wasn't until recently that I stumbled upon this marvelously funny radio show starring the talented duo of Phil Harris and Alice Faye. As a child I was a fan of The Jungle Book and Disney's Robin Hood so I was a fan of Phil Harris already. He has a great voice and it's put to nice work here. I highly recommend this old time radio show to old and young alike. It's amazing how well this program stands up to the test of time. So, if you haven't yet heard any of The Phil Harris and Alice Faye Show then my advice is go ahead and buy this and you will have a very entertaining time. Go ahead don't laugh I dare you!

Excellent irreverant radio entertainment

Here is a digitally remastered collection of the famous radio program of band leader/comedian Phil Harris and his charming wife, blonde film actress/ singer Alice Faye. The show was an enormous hit for almost 10 years and has an irreverance and loose quality which is endearing. For first time listeners, it will take a few episodes to establish the characters but once the format is engrained, there is a lot of fun to be enjoyed listening to Harris playing the blustery, bungling goofball and Faye in support as the voice of sanity. The supporting cast are excellent, particularly Julius as the smart mouthed grocery boy. It is also worth noting that there was always time for Faye to sing a hit of the day so you can hear her renditions of many songs written after her film career had ended. Harris was no mean singer himself, specialising in comedy songs of the south and he usually sings too.
The CDs have been beautifully packaged and there are some excellent liner notes. It is also interesting to note that the programs have been issued "under license from Alice Faye Trust". This implies that there might be more goodies preserved and issued in the future.

Phil, Frankie and Alice are the unsung heroes of comedy. A wonderful set of shows. If you love silly wacky comedy that is well written you will love both sets of shows. Sound quality is superior. I can't forget Julius. This is a great team.
