Kurzbeschreibung

18. Januar 2011 Peter and the Starcatchers
The year is 1901--it's been twenty-three years since Peter and the Lost Boys returned from Rundoon. Since then, nobody on the island has grown a day older, and the Lost Boys continue their friendship with the Mollusk tribe, and their rivalry with Captain Hook. Meanwhile in London, Molly has married George Darling and is raising three children: Wendy, Michael, and John. One night a visitor appears at her door; it's James, one of Peter's original Lost Boys. He is now working for Scotland Yard and suspects that the heir to England's throne, Prince Albert Edward, is under the influence of shadow creatures. These shadow creatures are determined to find a secret cache of startstuff which fell to London many centuries ago. The starstuff is hidden in an underground vault which has only one key: the Sword of Mercy, a legendary weapon kept with the Crown Jewels. Molly is determined to help, but when she suddenly goes missing, it is up to her eleven-year-old daughter, Wendy, to keep the starstuff out of the Others' clutches. She has heard her mother's stories of a flying boy named Peter Pan, and he may be her only hope in saving the world from a shadowy doom...

4.0 von 5 Sternen Final Starcatcher book 8. Mai 2012
Von Frank L. Hicks Jr. - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
The final book of the series has action going on in both London and NeverLand. Lots of action with new heroes and villains as well as many of the old ones. Peter Pan is once again portrayed as a really inapt hero, in fact he really was not much of a hero at all and made one major stupid move that was devastating, but still he had his moments. The book was really great except for this need to show Peter as a jerk. Wendy was a super hero and James and Ted, two of the lost boys (now fully grown men) who returned to London at the end of the last book also had a part to play and were more heroic than Peter. Molly and George are in it as well as Molly's father. Carl the Bear is there and some really bad characters that even strain the ability of the aging bear. This is clearly a different Peter Pan and Wendy and Molly and Captain Hook etc than us older readers grew up with. So you need to take it as a new Peter Pan and not try to place it into the old category although that is hard.

The authors claimed they had not intended to write this book but it is nice they did. There are lots of adventures in this with Captain Hook on the high seas once more and the bad guys really seem to be totally unstoppable. Starstuff is under siege in both London and Neverland but most of the action is in London. Tinkerbell is still a fun side of the story and a hero in her own right.

In the end there is a finality with at least some of the bad guys but also a fun hint of a future to come. A very good ending.

5.0 von 5 Sternen More Imagination 14. Dezember 2011
Von M. Blatt - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch|Von Amazon bestätigter Kauf
This fourth volume in the Starcatcher Series contains the vivid immaginations of its combined authors, Ridley Pearson and Dave Barry. I was fortunate to see both men on the same stage together, talking about their collaboration on this Series. It's no wonder they write so well for children: they were like a couple of kids, with humor sparking between them. They spoke of the initial challenges of collaboration. But they agreed that eventually their story-drafts seemed to take on an identity of their own, as if written by a third man who wrote better than either of them did. The Series is an extension of the Peter Pan story. You have to read the books yourself to fully understand how these two men created a whole new world in a sense. Although written for children, the books can be enjoyed by any age.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Good book! 18. Mai 2013
Von Taylor J. Huston - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch|Von Amazon bestätigter Kauf
I love Peter Pan! I even love the universe that Dave Barry and Ridley Person have created. They did great!

After the first three books, I never expected for there to be a fourth installment to the series. I always thought this was a one-time trilogy kind-of thing. I had my doubts about this third sequel, but it came out perfectly than I imagined. I love that Wendy, John, and Michael are introduced in this book. I missed those characters so much.

I was in tears that Peter and Molly never got to together. I thought they would make a perfect couple, in fact, I was counting on the third book to end with them leaving off together to start a new life. But, then again, I realized that things would turn out different for the future legacy of Peter and Wendy. I guess it was for the best for Molly and George to get married.

I may not consider this to be the best in the series, but I do consider it to be an awesome conclusion. I love how it directly leads to the events of the "Peter and Wendy" story-arc.

P.S. - I do not consider this to be a prequel to the original book. There are just to many mistakes that ruin the original story of Peter Pan. I can consider this series to be something of a reboot.

This is one book of a series and my daughter recommends it to all her friends. I looked for it in all the local book stores. I should have saved me the trouble and looked on amazon. I've never been disappointed.
5.0 von 5 Sternen Peter and the sword of mercy 13. April 2014
Von Eugenie - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

This is a great book to read. A great addition to the series, this book mixes action, fear, and most of all, true friendship into a great novel that epitomizes this series. Note, this is not the final book, there is one more.
