Kurzbeschreibung

What does peace feel like?

Have you ever asked yourself that question? Do you long for the mystical secret that will unlock permanent peace in your life? In Peace Feels Like This, Joey Lott can help you answer that question, but not in the way you might expect. In fact, you’re going to need to throw away your preconceptions, and get ready for a revelation.

There is no secret!

If you take a ride ‘down the rabbit hole’ with Joey, he can show you that the path to true peace is infinitely simpler and more accessible than you’ve ever imagined. There are no complicated mantras involved, just a simple leap of faith and a straightforward shift in your habits. Throughout the book he carefully explains how to strip away the façade of what we imagine peace to be and reveals the reality of what peace actually is. He then shows us the absolute ease with which this peace can be known beyond doubt.

Surely it can’t be that simple?

Although the concept behind the book is almost unbelievably simple, the shift in habit required to fully connect with it is one which isn’t necessarily going to be easy for some readers. Even the most basic of concepts, when it goes against belief systems we’ve unknowingly subscribed to all our lives, can take some time to accept. With this in mind, Joey makes clever use of clear examples, and demonstrates not only his years of experience but also his passion in his beliefs, as he carefully leads readers toward the ultimate goal of ever present peace in their lives.

Peace really is within your grasp – download Peace Feels Like This today and let Joey show you how.

Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende

"The secret to happiness is to let go of everything - see through every assumption."

Beginning at a young age Joey Lott experienced intensifying anxiety. For several decades he lived with restrictive eating disorders, obsessions, compulsions, and an inescapable fear. By the time he was 30 years old he was physically sick, emotionally volatile, and mentally obsessed with keeping any and all unwanted thoughts and experiences at bay.

At this time Lott was living on a futon mattress in a tiny cabin in the woods. He was so sick that he could barely move. He was deeply depressed and hopeless. All this despite doing all the "right" things such as years of meditation, yoga, various "perfect" diets, clean air, and pure water.

Just when things were at their most dire, a crack appeared in the conceptual world that had formerly been mistaken for reality. By peering into this crack and underneath all the assumptions that had been unquestioned up to that moment, Lott began a great undoing. The revelation of this undoing is that reality is utterly simple, ever-present, seamless, and indivisible.

Lott's books provide a glimpse into the seamless, simple, and joyous nature of reality, offering a glimpse through the crack in conceptual worlds. Whether writing about the ultimate non-dual nature of reality, eating disorders, stress, disease, or any other subject, he offers the invitation to look at things differently, leaving behind the old, out-grown, painful limitations we have used to bind ourselves in suffering. And then, he welcomes you home to the effortless simplicity of yourself as you are.

Not sure where to begin? Pick up a copy of Lott's most popular book, You're Trying Too Hard, which strips away all the concepts that keep us searching for a greater, more spiritual, more peaceful life or self.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Plain and simple 14. Juli 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
I recently stumbled across the work of Joey Lott - and I have to say: it makes so much sense. Its the kind of fresh, uncluttered, jargon-free, guru-less "spiritual" view I have been looking for since long, I guess. And this makes no exception.

If you want to get to the heart of peace, then read it. It's simple. Almost too simple. Joey's message summarized in his own words: "Peace was never absent." Or maybe: "Peace is the absence of any interpretation or any ascription of meaning or value."

But as with all truths it's difficult to fully understand/digest them in such abstractness. So Joey bolsters them up with "explanations" and looking at them from different perspectives.

It summary: It's a great book. A quick read - but takes time to live by. 4 instead of 5 stars, however, for some lack of "guidance". Although Joey is asking the reader several times to let go of this or that, I found it difficult to achieve the "target state" he's describing. Relaxation in any way is hard to reach starting from some kind of imperative. It's like trying to see in the dark: as long as you stare at something you won't see it, but look "around it", look to the side, then you might get a glimpse of it, even discern a shape.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Inner Peace and what it really is 15. Juli 2014
Von Ze'ev
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
There is a paradox in meditation and spirituality in generall: you are advised to "look within and find the peace that already is". Whenever people like me do this, they usually find a lot of things but not necessarily this nice feeling of peace that everyone wants. Why is that so and is there anything you can do about it? Joey Lott talks about this issues with great clarity and insight.
Whoever has run into this infamous spiritual trap called "peace" should consider to read this book. He (or she) might very well discover that peace is not what you think, but simply what is.

Joey is a great communicator, in my opinion one of the best around today. He gently leads you through the minefields of the mind. He answers your questions, your doubts and objections with grace and honesty.
I have read many, many books on the subject of non duality, none clearer or brighter than this.
I highly recommend this and all Joey Lott's books.

Whether you are a seasoned 'seeker' or completely new to the subject of nonduality, Joey Lott's books are like an oasis in the desert of conceptual misunderstanding of the simple nature of reality as it is. Joey distills all questions skillfully and patiently down to their bare essence so that one is led to clarity and yes, even to peace. The one caveat is that this may not be the book to begin with -- you may want to read some of his previous titles, all equally enlightening in their own way, before this one. This book is the ultimate distillation and, if you are ready, it will speak to you clearly of the truth of your own being.

2.0 von 5 Sternen The peace of a blade of grass 22. Juli 2014
Von Lawrence M. Clapp - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
First off, if you like this book, or Lott's other work, great, more power to you.

I think it's contradictory crap.

If you redefine "peace" to mean "whatever exists", then yes, peace is easy. If you redefine peace as the not-feeling of being really truly deeply asleep, then peace is easy. If you redefine reality to be a seamless box about which nothing meaningful can be said, then yes, problems disappear. If you want to look at life through the eyes of an infant, then yes, everything is simple and undifferentiated.

The peace that Lott offers is the peace of a blade of grass in a field. It makes no judgements, no conceptualizations, has no feeling of past or future. (And this is true whether the blade of grass lives a long and healthy life (not that it would know it) or whether you mow it down this afternoon.)

Lott does hit on some truths. Many of our problems *are* self inflicted and we would benefit from looking at them in a new light. Much of reality is lost when we conceptualize it in words and sentences and thoughts. As the GS folks would say, "the map is not the territory", and that's an important insight to remember. But that hardly means that if we close our eyes, reality ceases to exist.

But most of it is crap, and it's self-contradictory crap at that. If you can't change what is, then why did Lott even write the book? Presumably, "he" wants to "help" "us". But in his world, there is no "he", there is no "help", and there is no "us". And "want" is problematic, too, since there is nothing to have the feeling of wanting, and there's nothing to have it about. It's all just undifferentiated reality.

So, to sum up: If you like it, great. I thought it was pretty terrible.

(All that said, it was a nicely thought-provoking book, for a buck (at the time). Most of the thoughts were annoyed, 'tis true, but oh well. :)

5.0 von 5 Sternen love, money 14. Juli 2014
Von Frank J. Dobner - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
You may wonder why you are drawn to read this book. There is no answer. Because there really is no separate engagement known as you. "You" are here to read this book. You could not do otherwise. That is peace. I quote from the book "The rule of thumb is this: if it is, then it should be and it is acceptable. Period." This book reinforces that you don't have a choice...just release the striving and grasping for understanding. Spiritual seeking is no different than any other type of seeking....sex, fame, love, money. The only true spiritual seeking is letting go of the seeking. Problems can only happen to something that thinks it is making its own way in the world. It's all very simple. Read this book. By the way, I have no stake in this book at all. I was drawn to Joey's work and something there makes sense....only I cannot tell you why. It just does.

1.0 von 5 Sternen You won't find any direction to peace and happiness in this "book." 24. Juli 2014
Von James Bearman - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
I don't know where to start, but one promise I made myself is not to use the review space to engage in a philosophical debate. The subtitle of the piece suggests that the reader will find pointers to inner peace and happiness. After reading the piece, it left me feeling far from having any hope for inner peace or happiness. We all know the adage, "Garbage in, garbage out." It is often used in the world of computer programming, but it is actually a truth in the world of classical logic. Mr. Lott often uses totally unfounded and unproven statements as his premise. He accuses opponents of using circular logic, when his whole presentation is circular and inconclusive. Then he boldly excuses himself by stating that "No one can know the truth---not even him. Then my question is, "If no one can know truth, why should I bother to read and think about pieces such as this?"

Bottom line, if you are looking for pointers on the way in your journey through life, don't bother to read this. You won't find anything but confusion.
