The Evermen saga is no world literature, but an interesting world with an interesting "lore". However, this book does not make use of these strenghts. The story itself chains one event after another, which increasingly challenged my suspension of disbelief for this fantastic world. Either things run too smooth, the heroes act too stupid, or terrible events pile up without end and are still somehow thwarted, again and again. It is a bit too much of everthing and it caused me to skip paragraphs in a fast forward in an attempt to find back to the real story. Character development and a more in depth exploration of the darker aspects of the lore and the given cultural context are missing.
All in all, please read it, since you already have come so far in the saga, but do not expect too much.
More focus on character and lore, less cataclysmic pacing would have helped a lot.
