"Parts" by Tedd Arnold is a hilarious book for young children. My son received it as a gift from his kindergarten teacher. It was perfect timing as he was starting to loose his teeth. It's the story of a young boy, who upon loosing his teeth, among other things, thinks that he is falling apart! We just laughed and laughed over this book and read it again and again. I even buy it as a birthday present for all my nieces and nephews for their fifth birthday!

A little boy discovers several strange things that are happening with his body. It begins when he notices a few hairs in his comb. Next, he finds fuzz in his belly button and now he has a loose tooth! Piece by piece he imagines that he is falling apart. His parents clear up his misconceptions; but only after he spends many anxious moments worrying and imagining what piece of his body will fall apart next. Children will love the colorful and hilarious illustrations in this book. I like the book because I think children can relate to the little boy's fears and his feelings of relief when he realized he was NORMAL!
Note to Teachers: This would be a great "ice-breaker" book to read to students at the beginning of the school year or when you do your "ME" unit. This book can be used to remind children that a lack of information can many times lead to misconceptions and needless worry. This should encourage students to ask questions!

It has been ages since a book for children has come alive for kids and parents alike. Appealing to that bit of grossness that dwells within, this imaginative story will have you flipping the pages to experience this child's discoveries. Stray hairs, lint in his navel and a tiny bit of peeling skin convince him that something dire is happening. The tenderness his parents display as they reassure him this is all a part of normal life is warm and wonderful. With all of that, a surprise ending ... a sequel perhaps? Perfect for reading aloud. 5.5 stars!!

This offbeat book has become a great favorite. We routinely pack it on vacations because it's lightweight and because we can read it several times in succession without boring anyone. It's also a good bedtime book when you need something short. Jokes in the illustrations make them worth looking at more than once, as well. And despite the premise--that the boy is coming to bits--even our nightmare-prone younger child has never been adversely affected.

I'm not sure who enjoys this book more - me or my son. The story of the little kid who thinks he's falling apart had be laughing like a fool when I first read this in the library of the school I was working in at the time.
We've become fans of Tedd Arnold since buying this book. Parts, as well as any of the Huggly books or Arnold's Green Wilma, are sure to please your little readers!

Parts by Tedd Arnold is a delightful story of a little boy who thinks he is falling apart. The story is perfect for parents and teachers to use with children to help them understand the many changes that their bodies will go through even at an early age. The illustrations are hilarious and add humor to the already funny text.

My four year old daughter loved this book - I bought it for her over a year ago, and she still likes to hear the story and look and the pictures. She took the book to preschool with her for sharing and the teachers wanted their own copy for the school! All the kids loved this one! Hilarious! And the illustrations are priceless!

If you have just eaten, this book would not be the best to read as a bedtime story. However, it was good for my son, David, who wasn't quie grasping the concept of how he stays in one piece. It was somewhat funny, and I'm glad that I got it for my son, and not me.

This is the cutest little book. It captured my 2 year oldsattention and kept it. The poetic reading of it keeps the book movingso that even the youngest reader doesn't lose interest. Great pictures!!!! Great for a present to a child.
