Kurzbeschreibung

There are hundreds of ways cloud computing can help the average computer user be more productive; from sharing files across your own personal home computers for instant access anywhere, to collaborating with others on documents for personal or business use. Since its debut, "cloud computing" has seemed like a complicated term only advanced users could master. Many people have stayed away from learning anything about it because they fear its overly complicated.

Partly Cloudy is designed to teach a normal, average, everyday computer user how to use cloud computing, with step by step walk throughs, detailed pictures of what buttons to press, and a few examples of how you can use it yourself, all for free. There are many free cloud services out there and this book takes you step by step through some of them and provides links at the end for more resources you can use for free.

Did you know there are free graphic-design programs out there you can use on the web? Why pay $100 for Photoshop Elements?

You can also avoid the need to pay for expensive software such as Microsoft Office by replacing them with free cloud-based versions that never need to be purchased, never need updating and don't ever break or cause you computer problems! Save yourself $300 and put that money somewhere else!

There are even free sound-stage programs, free spreadsheet programs, and tons more. The cloud provides an immense opportunity for you to utilize things you already know how to do in a way that can make you more productive AND works as a backup in case you accidentally delete files you didn't mean to. The applications for it for people of all types are endless.

The instructions and programs outlined in this book are designed for anyone using Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, and even has some cool applications you can install on your smart phone or tablet to REALLY take advantage of cloud computing on the go!

This book is not intented for computer geeks, programmers, or developers. Likewise it isn't a "for Dummies" book either. It is written for the average person who wants to know how to leverage some of the Cloud technology in their lives, for both business and home users, and hopefully delivered to you in a way that is both informative and entertaining.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Cloud Computing Explained for Real People 12. Februar 2012
Von Karl W. Palachuk - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
As a computer consultant and "Managed Service Provider" I work a lot with people who take Cloud Computing for granted.

But most people are not computer nerds and don't have a clue what Cloud Computing is. They hear it in the news and in advertising, but it's not real to them.

In this great little book, Jordan explains how the average person can use Cloud Computing today. As he says, it will make every day a little sunnier. Jordan uses real world examples and give click-by-click instructions with great illustrations and screen shots.

The cloud revolution is over. You're using it whether you realize it or not. Jordan's book shows you how to make the most out of the cloud, and does so in a very enjoyable and easy to understand manner.

If you are someone who is afraid of computer, afraid of the Internet, or confused about Cloud Computing, buy this book!

5.0 von 5 Sternen An informative, engaging read 29. Dezember 2011
Von Psychlady12 - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I really enjoyed Partly Cloudy and would recommend it to anyone who wants to understand the basics of using the cloud and Dropbox specifically. I am a current Dropbox user and this helped me understand the functionality of the service and a few new ways to use the various utilities it offers without getting bogged down with "tech talk".

I am a very visual person and enjoyed the screenshots included in the book to be sure I was following the instructions correctly and seeing all the correct pop-ups at the right time.

It was an informative, engaging read that I would give as a gift to help others understand how secure and easy cloud computing can be.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Great overview book! 13. Januar 2012
Von CHodge - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
I am good with computers and technology, but a little behind the times...bought this book to give me an overview of cloud computing and it did not disappoint. Concise and to the point, it gave me basic understanding in a format I could read quickly after my toddler went to bed. Mostly a how to on dropbox, but it definitely shows you other ways the cloud can be used in both business and personal life. The only topic I wish it covered was information security and knowing what sites to trust...maybe that's a topic for Tommy Jordan's next Ebook?

I bought this book and was pleasantly surprised at how interesting the author has made these subjects. I am an IT professional and have used the services outlined in this book for some time now, but the one problem I have ran into is that I cannot explain these things to non techs. I will be recommending this book to all of my customers.
