Tennis, teenagers, trials tribulations and finally triumph

Outside In starts fast and never loses its momentum as it takes the reader inside the mind and heart of a teenage sports prodigy who just wants to be able to do things like everyone else (after all, what early teen doesn't?). This well-written, carefully developed story is about the lessons any young person learns while trying to find and develop their own personality. The multi-layered plot touches upon parent-child realtionships, peer-pressure, child prodigy issues, the internal conflict and sacrifice of finding one's true passion and of course, young (and often-times awkward) love.
The authour is at ease in his writing style and allows the reader to touch the physicality of the story via effective metaphorical passages. The pages turn quickly and the reader immediatley identifies with all the well-developed characters. For the teenager reading this, you will undoubtably be able to think of many people you know that could play each character. For those a little older, Outside In is a fantastic trip back to a time that is not yet too distant for tangible memories.

Outside In is Outstanding

Outside In is a well-written and engaging book. I read it cover to cover in a short time and thoroughly enjoyed it. The author is able to relate the feelings of a teenager who is committed to an individual sport that he loves and the sacrifices he has made to excel in the sport. The book describes the excitement of competition, the dedication of an athlete, the comradary that sports can bring and the feelings of isolation that can come with competing in an individual sport. It also touches on issues of teenage romance and the desire to fit in with the popular crowd. This book has something for everyone! It's a must read.

Finally, a wonderful and engaging book for teens!

Outside In is a great book that tackles issues that surround children and sports. It opens the reader to the committment that some children make to perfect their abilities, whether athletic, social or academic. It is a book that has likable characters that are easy to relate to. One cannot help cheering for the them as they face different challenges. The book is well-written and the author immediately draws the reader into the minds of the characters. One cannot help but to enjoy this book!
