Kurzbeschreibung

He’ll bend for them. But they may break over him.

For twelve years, Dom lovers Ryan “Angel” Morgan and Dante James have run a successful photography business, and satisfied their need for a submissive with the occasional sizzling three-way. On a wedding job, they both zero in on the bride’s beautiful brother, but as professionals, they keep their attraction on the down-low—for now.

Jordan Steele has no trouble establishing mastery over his stallions. When he hires Angel and Dante to shoot promotional photos for his stable, though, there’s something about them that calls to his inner submissive. After a little flirtation and a photo session that gets almost too hot to handle, Angel and Dante are happy to show him the ropes. And the whip.

Once they break the ice, their sexual chemistry burns hotter than a macro flash. Everyone gets what they need…until emotions come into play. Their power could develop into something permanent, throw everything off balance—leaving one of them the odd man out.

Warning: Contains lots of sarcasm, a double helping of steamy erotic photography, and two dominants having their way with one very enthusiastic submissive.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Needed to be a little longer. 13. August 2011

With one exception ("With the Band"), I've liked all of L.A. Witt's books and, overall, I liked this one, too. Menage stories are always problematic, when the third is added to a long-standing couple, and I think Witt presents the fears and hopes of all three characters quite realistically. While Jordan is worried that if things go pear-shaped, he will be the one to be cast off, Angel and Dante also have to face up to what it means to their relationship that they fall in love with somebody, whom they initially decided to play with consensually, but not as an equal partner.

And therein also lies the importance of length for me. Because the fact is that Angel and Dante have built a life together, based in large part on their mutual interests in travelling (though they don't always agree on the same destinations and for the same reasons), professions, and in that they work together. While Jordan plays a significant and complementary role in their sexual relationship, I'd have liked a little more exploration and reassurance on the non-sexual side. In the end, all accept that there are risks and no guarantees, not any more than there would be between a couple, but the point is that a threesome IS more complicated, because there are three individuals involved. Simply saying "Well, I love one as much as I love the other, and want both" is bit of a cop-out for me. Even if one loves as much, one doesn't and cannot love in the same way (and I don't only mean sexually here), and that was what I'd liked to have seen explored a bit further. Not resolved, necessarily, just more of a feeling that they all, and especially Angel and Dante, truly understood more of the risks that they were accepting.

Witt does use the jump-forward-in-time device to show us that it doesn't come together easily, but even there the difficulties and tensions - aspects that would have really added more depth to the story for me - are glossed over.

Still, I did like the story a lot, and the alteration between the three points of view. A couple of times I thought I'd have preferred to have stayed inside one character's head a little longer, but a couple of paragraphs later I'd see that that part really did work better told from the other's point of view, so this aspect of the writing really worked for me, as well.

A good read, and I highly recommend it!

4.0 von 5 Sternen Loved it...A great addition to this author's works 6. August 2011

I have enjoyed all of this author's books, but this is one of my favorites. My only criticism (minor though it is) is that I would have liked a heading at the beginning of each chapter that stated the name of the character speaking in first person. The perspective changed each chapter and sometimes I had to read a couple of paragraphs before I knew for sure who was speaking. A simple heading would have made for smoother reading. I really enjoyed that each of the main characters had a voice in the story. It made for a really well rounded reading experience. Plus, the D/s scenes were hot but not over the top crazy. An enjoyable read all around.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Hot three-way sex with heart 20. Februar 2013

3.5, rounded up to 4 stars because, gawd, the sex was damn hot! Very enjoyable read, although I admit that it took me a while to finish. While there are moments of sheer brilliance in the writing (and I'm not just talking about the MMM sex), the beginning dragged for me. The setup was just too long and the MCs seemed almost juvenile, and I put the book down for several months before deciding to give it another try. I'm glad I did. It's almost as if the next 2/3 of the story were a different novel entirely.

No need to go that deeply into the plot since the blurb basically says it all: long-term hot guys (photographers) who just both happen to be Doms find a hot sub to share and get more than they bargained for. The story is well-written, and the shifting POVs were well done and clearly delineated, so I wasn't wondering whose head I was in all the time.

The backdrop of the photography business seemed realistic and Ms Witt did a wonderful job describing the photographs themselves (not an easy feat). I could imagine some of the shots in my mind's eye (including some of the racier ones). There's an amazingly hot scene with the three MCs in the photography studio that was wonderful. I know nothing about photography, but I got the sense that Ms. Witt had done her homework (or knew about how the business works from experience). The three-way sex was probably the hottest MMM I've read, and the BDSM angle (although not all that hard-core), was a terrific addition.

That said, the hands-down best sex of the book was between the two photographers and long-time lovers - not as much meant as a hot sex scene, but as an expression of their deep love and commitment. The way Ms. Witt described their lovemaking was moving and hot as hell. Not hot in the same way as the Dom/Sub/Dom stuff, but sexy romantic and wonderful. Ms. Witt did an amazing job of showing us the depth of the emotional connection between Dante and Angel. The emotions she conveyed were visceral and poignant. The way these two partners reaffirm their love was so beautifully done, it will stay with me for a long time (and will stay on my "keepers" shelf).

The only things that kept me from rating this book above a 4 star were the slow beginning and the ending, an epilogue that did far more telling than showing.

MILD SPOILERS AHEAD:

After so much should we/shouldn't we angst from the three men, I wanted much more. We see very little of Angel, Dante and Jordan's interactions a year later, since most of the epilogue is written in narrative style. I didn't want to hear about how having a long-term menage relationship was challenging, I wanted to SEE the challenges for myself. I get that it's a challenge and that most menage relationships don't stand the test of time. I wanted to know what the challenges were. Yes we know that that there were challenges because one of the threesome was new to a long-term relationship pair. But how was that a challenge? Was there jealousy? How did Angel and Dante bring Jordan into their loving fold? Did Jordan have doubts? How did the three meld their BDSM lifestyle with their love relationship? How did Jordan grow as a sub? We hear about their travels , but we see nothing of it. Dante and Angel had traveled the world. How did they share that with Jordan?

I understand the need for closure, but I'd have been fine with no epilogue than a glossed-over one. After the brilliantly written love scenes at the end of the story, it was a let-down and just felt rushed. Still, the book is an enjoyable read, and the sex is hotter than hot.

I recommend this book to anyone who loves hot menage with a long-term, loving relationship at its core.

3.0 von 5 Sternen Stars: 3.5/5 14. Mai 2012

Overall
A good showing of a threesome with hot sex scenes and believable resolutions that was a touch heavy on the number of sex scenes and didn't completely enthrall me. Enjoyable, sexy and well done.

Strengths
The triad in this story was well handled, from the coming together (*cough*) to the difficulties they face when having three, especially when two are an established couple. The characters all think things through and come up with good solutions, making this a believable scenario.

Also, the sex scenes with all three are delicious, a great dynamic between characters and playing with some medium-light BDSM. Although there were too many sex scenes for my liking, most of the ones in it as very enjoyable. If you're looking for something with a nice amount of steamy, sex to balance out the plot, this will be good for it.

The cover is eye-catching and artistic, which is fitting since two of the main characters are expert photographers. The cover seems to go right in line with the type of work they do on the side. It's symbolic, powerful and erotic in it's struggle. Very nice.

Weaknesses
There was too much sex for me. Not mind-numbingly too much, but any time there was a scene that didn't involve all three, I tended to skim. This might not be a problem for everyone, and if you're looking for a book with a fair amount of sex, this is your gig. The sex doesn't outweigh the story, and most the sex scenes are important to overall development, but still, a bit much sex.

The ending wasn't bad, but it was just...OK. While resolutions are often obvious in the romance genre, (and that's not my complaint), this one didn't evoke a strong emotional response where, even knowing how things would end up, I still get emotionally invested in the characters and the situation. While I liked the characters, wanted them happy, and liked the ending, I wasn't on pins and needles waiting for the resolution.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Fantastic! 26. Februar 2012

I've always love menage stories but one's written well are hard to come by. The fears and feelings presented when one person is brought into a relationship that has been established for years is well done and believable. The whole BDSM aspect was interesting, steaming hot and well played out. The conflicts with the characters and emotions gave my heart a tug more than once. By then end of this book I felt like I knew the characters and was rooting for a happy ending. I have a few of LA Witts books and I have been very impressed and I want more. All in all this is one for reading many times over.
