A Stash Hounds Saviour!

I purchased this book with the idea that it might help me organize a very small, and dually purposed, quilting room. Along the way to organizing this tiny space, my kitchen almost magically became better organized! Perhaps the kitchen was easier to organize as that room only has one purpose. However, and most importantly to me, this wonderful book provides a roadmap to a better thought process from the beginning of any quilting or sewing project to the very end. For someone who has a wide variety of interests, lots of fabric, books and equipment--not to go into detail about all the unfinished projects creeping out from under the bed and poking out the closet doors, this book continues to be a phenomenal resource. Clear direction for organizing your quilting space is provided along with excellent photographs and links to wonderful resources. An easy to read style punctuated with a great sense of humour helps the medicine go down smoothly. For this reader, the book has been extraordinarily helpful in organizing the thought process for several other projects unrelated to quilting that have helped minimize disorganizational clutter.

She starts with the basics: understand the clutter and decide what to keep and (gasp!) what to let go. She delivers proven strategies and practical tips, with a good dose of humor.
While the photos of the dream spaces are lovely, Woods knows quilters work with what they have, whether it's a corner in the family room or a dedicated space for their art. So she provides tools for analyzing and designing the workspace to get the most out of it, given the realities of time and budget.
Whether you are stymied by your stash or just looking for a few good tips and tricks to fine-tune your system, "Organizing Solutions for Every Quilter" will help you move from clutter to creativity.

Great Advice for the Unorganized

I enjoy organizing my sewing room because I'm a bit of a neat freak and also because it also gives me a reason to procrastinate. So, when this book came out, I had to have it.
This book has lots of great organizing and storage ideas for all of the fabric and tools that we quilters accumulate. In the first chapter, the author challenges quilters to analyze the reasons for their messes before going out and purchasing solutions. The pictures in the book are beautiful and the resources section is outstanding. I discovered several items that I would like purchase and was thankful that the author provided information about where I can buy them. I found this book was fun to read and I really enjoyed the author's writing style.
If I were organizationally challenged, this book would have had a greater impact on me and most likely would have earned five stars. If your sewing/quilting area is a mess, the information in this book will certainly help you out.
