PackT has tapped Alexander Hansel to write the book which has a great background related to Seibel. Alexander Hansel was part of Siebel CRM before Oracle acquired the company. He was working with Siebel CRM in Germany and he was working as an instructor for the said tool. The author left after Oracle's acquisition but continued working as an instructor. He is currently working as an instructor for the same tool and he is also a consultant for businesses in different sectors who wanted to employ this CRM tool from Oracle.
With more than 500 pages of instructions, this is a very hefty book from PackT. But this should be expected since the book has 16 chapters with three appendices that would complement the instructions written in the chapters. Each chapter is related to the previous chapters but they can be treated independently. The appendices added in the book are not simple data to be used in real world but they provide extensive information on how to learn more about Oracle Siebel CRM. But there are lots of instructional data added in the book; any developer who wanted to learn more about Oracle Siebel CRM will be impressive with the book

The book is very extensive for a good reason. The author made sure that every possible scenario is dealt with during installation and maintenance. To make sure the reader understands how to deal with Oracle Siebel CRM, the author added screenshots on how to specifically work with the tool.
But aside from screenshots, the author added visuals such as graphs which are very essential in understanding business setting. In Appendix A, the author provides information that should be sought by any developer from the business end. In the chapters, the visuals are added to show the process of the CRM when looked as a business transaction. Combining these factors resulted to an impressive book recommended for every developer who wanted to create a powerful CRM for a business.

Everyone working with or about to work with Oracle Siebel CRM should read this book. It's practically a library of tips on how to work with the CRM. Every chapter is very useful in certain situations as it can be used as a reference book. The book is also a good primer on understanding the capabilities of the CRM and on how to start building a tool for customer management for those who are not familiar with Oracle Siebel CRM.

As someone who has been working with Siebel for about 12 years, I am always eager to learn new things and read good books about Siebel CRM. This book is well structured, clearly laid out and works through every step in a very simple and effective way. I was interested by the subject anyway, but my interest was held by the writing style and the detailed information. The only think I would add is that despite thanking native english reviewers for checking the text, the first page has a lovely error in it - was this on purpose?
It is nothing more than a minor comment. My review recommendation should be clear - good, complete, easy to read, technically very good. Enjoy!
