This book, written by Ikeda, is a collection of essays on near 20 different individuals, most based on his personal encounters and relationships. These include Nelson Mandela, Rosa Parks, and Arnold Toynbee, as well as great figures around the world, such as well known Russian author Chingiz Aitmatov.
Reading this book, and learning of the ways in which these great figures had struggled in their early years with war, violence, and oppression, and how they managed to surmount their difficulties has encouraged me so much. My spirits were always lifted when I read Ikeda's writings. I recommend this book to all who seek to inspiration on changing one's circumstances.
