This is an informative and interesting book on just how much Ohio musicians did contribute to jazz. Ohio was geographically in a prime location for jazz bands traveling from New York to Chicago to stop off and perform en route, too. In addition to enjoying reading the book... and recognizing more than a few Ohio natives who later became nationally known artists; I liked the sixty bios in the back of the book as well. The period photos add a grand touch to the late nineteenth-early twentieth century feeling of the book. Chapter notes are easy to follow. An excellent holiday gift choice for the reader, musician, jazz lover, history buff, Buckeye, or anyone else on your list.
