This re-release of Nunsexmonkrock contains the extra tracks 11 to 14 which prompts me to award it five stars. The original album didn't quite live up to Nina's earlier work. Gone were the impressive vocal gymnasics and the superb melodies, making a still good album as measured against the punk and rock music of its era, but lacking in the innovation and originality of albums like Unbehagen and Nina Hagen Band. Having said that, my favorites include Smack Jack, Anti-World and Bon In Xixax, all bubbling, new-wavy rock songs with lots of energy. But the real classics are those extra tracks, like the phenomenal TV Glotzer (a wonderful interpretation of The Tubes' White Punks On Dope), the brilliant tour de force that is African Reggae, and her trenchant rendition of Lene Lovich's Lucky Number (Wir Leben Immer Noch). So this album contains some of the best rock music of the early eighties from a musical genius that deserves more recognition in the English-speaking world. Also check out The Definitive Collection and Nina Hagen Band/Unbehagen.
