Kurzbeschreibung

Once again, 26-year-old Layla Carson has the attention of a man eager to satisfy her. Ben Montrose, the hot, confident cop who gets off on frustrating her, is eager to show her just how arresting he can be. But as a reforming sexaholic, Layla’s sworn off casual hookups, and doesn’t miss the days of her early 20s –much.

Ben’s caught off-guard when the sexy, outspoken attorney turns him on and then turns him down. But the confident former Marine knows he can handle the simple seduction of a beautiful woman. He finds Layla’s weak spot – competition, which he happens to share – and challenges her to a game that could make them, or destroy them.

As they compete to crown the master of seduction, Ben and Layla discover there’s more to their game than power and foreplay. But as the stakes go up, they realize the game has changed, and they both stand to lose more than they bargained for.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Tolles Buch! 18. Februar 2014
Von Julia
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
Now and Forever (Band 3) freuen.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Fantastic 5. November 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the second book in the series. I'm thinking I loved this even more than the first if that's possible.
From page one I was glued to this book. This author was fantastic in keeping my attention right through the book. The first book is mainly about Emma. This one is about her sister Layla. Now enter Ben... Geee he is totally drooling material. This books pretty steamy which I loved. It also flips you over to the other side when I had tears in my eyes wondering what's happening next.
I'm totally looking forward to the third & last part of this series where we can read more about both girls.
Fantastic writing Brenda. Totally loved it.
Received in return for an honest review.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Now and Again: Loved It! Way better than the first book!! 4. Oktober 2013
Von Ms.Meesh - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
ARC PROVIDED BY AUTHOR FOR HONEST REVIEW
**4.5 stars**

Now and Again by Brenda Rothert is the the second installment of the series Now. In the first book, we were introduced to Emma Carson's beautiful older and fiercely independent sister, Layla. She was basically portrayed as slut and a bitch in Now and Then. While most readers love to hate her in the first book, I was one of the minority of readers who actually liked her. I was intrigued by her spunky attitude and how she isn't afraid to speak her mind. But behind her strong personality, I know Layla is looking for what every girl hopes to find and that is love. And now we finally we get to hear Layla's story.

Now and Again picks up where it last left off in the previous book. Layla's relationship with her sister, Emma is still strained but its getting better. Layla is a young 26 corporate lawyer who decides that she needs to revamp her lifestyle. She decides that she's no longer going to have casual sex and make her career and herself number one priority.

While working on a case, Layla meets Chicago Investigator Ben Montrose. Ben is all man and isn't afraid of getting his hand dirty with manual labor. He is a former Marine who has worked his way up in the law enforcement ladder to become an investigator at the young age of 31.

The sexual chemistry between Layla and Ben are scorching HOT!! They perfectly balance and compliment one another. They are both fiercely independent, witty, strong and stubborn. I love the playful flirty banter they both exchange. Ben is intrigued that Layla is not like any other women he met. He was used to women throwing themselves at him but that was not in the case with Layla. As the two spent more time together, they decide to "date" each other but no sexual promises for 4 weeks. Layla will get to be in control of the first 2 weeks and the last 2 weeks Ben would be in control.

Within the 4 weeks, feelings developed between them. Ben brings out Layla's fun and laid back personality. He accepts her past and always reminds her that he doesn't care of her past casual hookups and encounters. Their playful banters often include "dirty talks," which I found to be entertaining. What I love about Ben is that he protects and stands up for Layla's honor and doesn't let anyone disrespect or put her down. Also, he didn't jump at the chance to have sex with her right away. He waited till she was ready and knew for sure this is something she wanted which happened to be the last day of the their four week arrangement.

"Ben..he gets me. He knows how to handle me. I've never met a man who complements me, but he does. When we're together, I don't feel like an aggressive bitch. I just feel like a woman who knows what she wants. And when he looks at me...I feel beautiful. In more than a tits and a** way."

Did I like this book than the first one? THE ANSWER IS A BIG FAT YES!!! I just like that the heroine isn't weak and afraid to speak her mind. Between the two sisters, I liked Layla the best. Her character was more lively and she isn't afraid to be a bitch. Ben's laid back alpha personality was just refreshing. I was never a Cole fan so I was so happy that the author finally gave us an alpha male who doesn't take BS. I think its cute that Ben calls Layla, "Cupcake."

The only problem I had with this book was Emma. I'm sorry but if your boyfriend disrespects your sister and basically calls her a slut and whore... Ummm, I would slap and punch him in the face. I just didn't like that Emma would cover up for Cole's disrespectful behavior and justify it that he's moody because they haven't had sex in a week. Cole, where is Layla's apology????? Let me tell you, I loved that Ben didn't stand for Cole's harsh words for Layla and made sure to defend his woman's honor and character.

"Layla..I love you, too. I do, I want to be with you. I want to share the ups and downs with you."

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and devoured it in one sitting. This book had romance, playfulness, love, passion, sexual chemistry, a little angst, "dirty talks" and suspense all wrapped up. And to top it off, a HEA ending!!

For the final book of the series Now and Forever I'm hoping that Layla and Emma's relationship gets back on track to what it was before. In my bias opinion, I rather read more about Layla and Ben than Emma and Cole.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Another great book 4. Oktober 2013

Wow! The chemistry between Ben and Layla was hot. The flirting between them was so much fun to read which built the anticipation and hope that they would end up together. Yes, the reader definitely experienced the fireworks between them! Not only was the book about a relationship developing between them, but the author also put a little bit of mystery into this book. I loved it because I found myself holding my breath when Layla went home because I didn't know when the intruder would strike. I had tears threaten to spill down my cheeks towards the end of the book when there was an incident with her dog, Prince. I held the tears back because I didn't want my three year old son to get concerned why his mommy would be crying! I felt every emotion that the author intended for the reader to feel which makes this a well written and excellent book. You will not be disappointed reading this story and I can't wait for the third book in this series!

4.0 von 5 Sternen Shawna's Survey Review of Now and Again 8. November 2013
Von Shawna Shauntia - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Now and Again is Brenda Rothert sophomore novel for the Now series. This here is Emma Carson's sister Layla story, which I am happy to say I actually enjoyed more than Emma's story in Now and Then.

Layla Carson is a powerful force to be wreckin with. She's all business, no games, and sometimes a bi*** on the outside. On the inside, in private she's a little broken by the unfortunate choices she's made with men. Deep down she only wants the same things that any other woman wants...to find someone to love her the way she deserves.

Now and Again starts off where things left in Now and Then. The relationship between Layla and Emma are still a tad uneasy and sometimes awkward. Although, I feel both ladies are making an effort to be more civil with each other.

While working on her most recent case Layla finds herself in ex-marine Ben Montrose now Chicago Investigator office. Let's get a few things clear he is all man. Alpha type that has a way with his hands. I absolutely loved the fact that he was more than willing to stand up for Layla's honor. Case in point when Cole was being a major douche. -- Like really. Really. Where did this blatant disrespect come from. On some small level I think that he may have been jealous of what Ben and Layla had--.

After a few encounter these to developed some intense chemistry, but being who they are neither wants to give up control. So they come up with a comprise to share. That's when things not only get interesting but also even more intense between these two. The story is told from a dual POV, which I absolutely love so much. The romance between these two dominant spirits was not as instant as the initial attraction they felt for each other. Considering they both had very thick walls that needed to be broken down.

I would really like to give many thanks to Ms. Rothert for creating a story with characters that were so enjoyable and relate. Allowing the story to flow so that I did not want to put my e reader down. Now and Again hands down more intriguing than Now and Then. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will get more of Ben and Layla in the near future.

**Huge thanks to the author for providing me with an arc copy in exchange for my honest opinion**

5.0 von 5 Sternen Another Great Read! 4. Dezember 2013
Von Marlene W - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Didn't think Brenda could do it, but she made me forget that I didn't like Layla in book one of this series. Yes, she's still somewhat of a b*tch, but it works! This book for me was about taking a leap of faith. These characters are are self assured and are living life exactly the way they feel they should be...until they meet.

Layla is a 26 year old attorney who has come to terms with herself that her life isn't going to be what she dreamed it would be when she was a young girl. And she's ok with that. She has a type A personality that feels the need to be in control at all times. Her top priority is her career and sleeping around is a thing of the past.

Ben is a detective (and former marine, by the way!) and is content on living his life without commitment. He is not ashamed to flirt and enjoy a casual fling. He is a strong Alpha male that will not be held down by a relationship. He harbors shame from his past and holds his secrets close.

After receiving a disturbing piece of mail, Layla comes face to face with Ben. The chemistry is obvious between them, but both choose to push it aside until it becomes impossible.

This being the third book by Brenda Rothert that I have read, it is obvious that she likes to torture her readers with a slow build until it explodes into a hot and sexy climax. Although I can sort of see it possible to read this as a stand alone, I don't recommend it. You need to read Now and Then in order to have the back story of Layla. This is a HEA with no cliffhanger. However, you will be anxious for book 3 to see what becomes of Ben and Layla as well as Emma and Cole from book 1. You will not be disappointed with this series!

I love this book! I didn't think that Layla was going to be a likeable character after reading Now and Then but I just adored her in this book. I love a strong female character! I really loved the way this story progressed and I loved her non-relationship with Ben. Highly recommend! So excited for Now and Forever!
