Crackling with humor and bursting with flavor, Nom Nom Paleo offers a fun, fresh approach to cooking with whole, unprocessed ingredients free of grains, legumes, and added sugar.

Authors Michelle Tam and Henry Fong, creators of the acclaimed Nom Nom Paleo website, have cooked up a visual feast, with more than 100 fool- proof Paleo recipes and over 900 step-by-step photographs and cartoons. There's something for everyone here, whether you're a busy mom, a triathlete in training, or a lifelong foodie who's curious about the "caveman" approach to eating.

The heart of this book is Michelle's award-winning recipes, which The Kitchn has heralded as "often Asian-influenced, often California-inspired, and always popping with flavor." Building blocks such as Paleo Sriracha, Magic Mushroom Powder, and Paleo Mayonnaise lay the flavor foundation for many of the dishes in the rest of the book, including Walnut Prawns, Eggplant "Ricotta" Stacks, and Devils on Horseback. You'll find everything from down-home comforts like Yankee Pot Roast and Chicken Nuggets to the exotic flavors of Siu Yoke (Crispy Roast Pork Belly) and Mulligatawny Soup. These pages contain everything you need to maximize flavors and save time in the kitchen--all while transitioning to a real-food Paleo lifestyle.

Paleo has more to offer than just optimal health. Nom Nom Paleo delivers innovative recipes with a big scoop of personality on the side, and will make you excited to play in the kitchen again.

Besides, there are butt jokes in this book.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Witziges Kochbuch mit "Eigengeschmack" 11. August 2014
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe|Verifizierter Kauf

21. März 2014
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe|Verifizierter Kauf
I'm only halfway through the book yet and it has been wonderful so far, though I've scanned the whole thing right when it arrived of course. The little comic strips of the author and her family are really cute and make this book unique. The recipes are very imaginative and accompanied by step by step instructions with lots of pics (photos and drawing), so nothing can go wrong. There's even a little introduction to Paleo in case people who aren't familiar with it get a hold of this book. (Btw.: This is so gonna end up on my coffeetable, so every single one of my guests can enjoy it!)

My favourite and very simple recipe so far is the magic mushroom powder (link to the recipe with pictures on her blog: [...]). It's so simple that I'm surprised I have never thought of it myself before: It's just dried porcini mushrooms and sea salt shredded in a coffeblender, and it adds so much flavour to stews or roasts or tomato sauce or... delicious!

What I really enjoy a lot are the many condiments and sauces. The Asian influence can't be overlooked there, and I really enjoy trying new flavours that I'm not all that familiar with. The spices, sauces and condiments can really transform any meal and I'm especially grateful for this part of the book because I've only recently switched to Paleo. This book definitely makes it a lot easier to achieve some variation even if you're using a lot of the same ingredients (my gut is sensitive to a lot of veggies, so I'm forced to stick to a few safe ones for now). The little cartoon figures of Michelle and her family add a very personal touch to the whole masterpiece, as do the stories she keeps throwing in there about her life growing up in a big family who loved to cook and eat.

Best cookbook ever - and I own and have read a lot of them over the years.

“Nom Nom Paleo: Food for Humans” prepared by Michelle Tam by Henry Fong is unusually fun and different book about cooking, that in a humorous way using different techniques, among other comic drawings, offers numerous recipes for cooking whole, unprocessed ingredients absolutely free of added sugar, grains and legumes.

Our hosts are four cartoon characters – Michelle, Henry, Owen and Ollie which will lead us through more than 100 recipes in this book divided in 9 chapters plus introduction that gives the background of how and why this book was released.

The recipes are divided into chapters bearing the following titles: building blocks, nibbles, salads and soups, eggs, plants, seafood, poultry, meat and treats.
From the book contents it can be seen that the authors truly covered a wide and varied circle of dishes and foods, thereby becoming interesting to many people that seek information about healthy eating.

The author in one place beautifully said that her love for food started with the tastes, sights, and aromas of her mother’s kitchen, her being an excellent cook, and as a child she was her little shadow while mother prepared supper each night.

And it’s exactly this love for food that can be visible in the pages of this innovative and beautifully designed cookbook that offers many photographs for each of the included recipes covering step-by-step preparation process with personality add-on author’s touch.
As the authors themselves said, this book doesn’t have a specific audience; at the same time it’s a collection of dishes whose preparation is quick, while the food and health quality is high, and these are characteristics that are these days important to all of us.
Therefore, “Nom Nom Paleo” book rightly bears the name food for humans and due to that can be recommended.
