A frightening childhood experience has made tour guide Noa Parker vow never to return to Morocco. The terror of getting lost in the endless, narrow passageways of the medina in Fez still haunts her. Noa is prepared to refuse her boss’s offer to lead a new group into Morocco until she meets persuasive, charming tour manager, Taber Rand. Suddenly, she finds herself looking forward to the adventure.

Shortly before the tour begins, tragedy strikes. Noa’s brother dies unexpectedly, leaving her custody of his willful teenage daughter, who joins her on the tour. Trouble follows when members of the tour group are robbed, but Noa soon finds her very life is at stake. Unable to trust Taber, Noa must discover the identity of a hooded attacker. In the dark medina, Noa must face her childhood fears and a very real assassin.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Good Read 7. August 2000
Von Pamela Stone - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
Noa Parker has worked for Carlson-Rand Tours for the past five summers. This year her boss, Wendell Carlson, wants her to head his new tour which ventures into the heart of Morocco. Noa wants no part of that tour because of fear. When Noa was 8-years old, she got separated from her father for several hours, and she can still feel the terror that haunted her that day. Wendell Carlson was supposed to meet Noa to get her answer but instead sent the dashing young Taber Rand. When Noa sees him, she knows that she will not be able to turn the offer down. A telegram arrives for Noa before the touring season starts with bad news that her brother, Mike, has had a heart attack, and she must go to him. Before she reaches New York, Mike dies, and she is to be sole heir to Mike's estate and along with that comes her adopted 17-year old niece who is major trouble.
The tour from day one is a catastrophe. Trouble starts when members of the tour group are robbed. Noa and Belda Ward are all most crushed when a dark-hooded man dislodges a rock, and it all most falls on them. It becomes apparent that who ever is responsible wants something more-Noa's life. Unable to trust anyone, even Taber, Noa struggles alone to learn the identity of the hooded attacker as her once auspicious summer turns into a fear-inspiring nightmare.
Nightmare in Morocco is very well written with splendid characters. My personal favorite is Belda Ward. I hope to be as sassy as she is when I reach her age.
Loretta Jackson and Vickie Britton have written a mystery/romance that really warms your heart while keeping you on the edge of your seat. Best of all, I could recommend it to my 15-year old niece to read. Good work, Loretta and Vickie. 4 Stars

5.0 von 5 Sternen A Mysterious Tale of Intrigue 11. Juni 2012
Von Jean Henry Mead - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I enjoyed NIGHTMARE IN MOROCCO for several reasons. The authors' descriptions of the medina and surrounding countryside are authentic and pulled me into the plot as much as the tale of intrigue, thievery and betrayal. Britton and Jackson's character descriptions are well written and make me care about Noa and her fellow travelers. The storyline has already been described so I'll just say that I recommend this book and those previously written to anyone who loves a good mystery, especially with a foreign setting.

Nightmare in Morocco by Loretta Jackson and Vickie Britton

I love a suspense story and this one delivered for me.

Noa Parker has a history with Morocco and it's not a pleasant one. The last thing she wants is to conduct a vacation tour there. Of course she's about to be presented with several other last things she wants and it's only going to make things worse.

I loved that this started with her dying brother leaving all his money to her and asking her to take care of his troublesome adopted teenage daughter. Noa begins to suspect that the young girl has been stealing from her father when several valuable possession come up missing when she does an inventory. She reluctantly honors her brothers wishes and takes the girl with her to her home in Spain.

When they return to Spain and then to Morocco for the tour and people on the tour start getting robbed it's not difficult to connect the dots. But it gets complicated when there are several more suspicious dots on the tour. There are enough suspects to fill one hand at least. Soon things become deadly and it looks like someone is trying to murder someone on the tour.

I loved the development of the fragile relationship that Noa has with Cathy and then the strained relationship she has between her and a coworker and one of the tourists when they start making advances toward her. She has a preference but he seems to also be a suspect. There is a point where Noa has so many suspects she doesn't know who to trust.

This novel is definitely a suspense and romance.

There is the caveat that there are some Grammar problems. Probably around a handful that I found distressing and usually these involved punctuation.

Unfortunately within the first two pages there is one sentence where the punctuation effects the meaning of the sentence and I could only guess what the authors meant to say. I think I figured it out but if it was the other way around it would have been an odd twist of the image I thought they meant to make.

This novel is a good easy read for any fan of Suspense and Romance though the romance is probably a bit on the light side.

4.0 von 5 Sternen An enjoyable read of mystery and romance 13. September 2013
Von Norm Hamilton - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Nightmare in Morocco follows the journey of Noa Parker as she overcomes various past fears and current obstacles, not the least of which is inheriting her brother's precocious teenage daughter.

The story takes us into the streets of Morocco with a pair of travel guides and their entourage of eclectic guests. There is intrigue, romance, excitement and the presence of a very real killer.

The authors, Loretta Jackson and Vickie Britton, have created a book that provides a number of possibilities for the relationships between the characters; including difficulties, attraction, triangles and wonderment. All of this provides the reader with a curiosity that encourages one to read on to see what happens next.

There are many positive aspects to this novel, including the twists and turns that the story and character arcs make. One is left wondering who the real protagonist is until the reveal at the end of the tale.

My one criticism has to do with the number of errors I came across that a sound proofreading ought to have caught before the book was published. (e.g. Sentence with extra words in it; name spelled differently from one page to the next; incorrect word in sentence.) While these do not, necessarily, detract from the story too much, it was disappointing to see them.

That being said, I still recommend this book as a good read for anyone interested in a tale of romance, mystery and human involvement. I expect the authors' other offerings will be as enjoyable to read as this one was.

I really enjoyed reading this. It was a very interesting story. I like trying to figure out who the bad guy is and this had me guessing for awhile. It is a quick and easy, interesting book to read and I would recommend it for reading to anyone who likes trying to figure out who done it, lol.
