NIGHT VISIONS is a collection of the work of sixty photographers of varying degrees of fame and quality collected by curator Joris Bulks. The images vary considerable - some are quite staged and stiff with the emphasis on color effects and extreme lighting techniques while others are simply spontaneous feeling moments capturing very striking young men in innocent poses. It would seem that Bulks was attempting (and actually succeeding!) in giving us a spectrum of approaches of how various photographers view the male model. Brutality is tempered with an equal number of romantic images, fetishes are explored as are delicate balances of relationships and subtle seductions. Some of the images are gritty and some refined. While at first the viewer may gravitate to one or the other end of the spectrum presented here, in time the concept of surveying all manner of creative thoughts and stages of photographic skill provides aN entertaining survey on how we see ourselves!
