Faulty construction (the book, not the buildings)

This book includes many semi-opaque illustrated papers that are pasted or taped to the bound pages. It's a nice idea, but the paste and/or tape in my copy arrived dried out so that the inserts are loose, and the acids or oils in the glue seeped through the paper so the inserts are also blemished. I'm assuming this was a design flaw, and did not just affect my copy. Did anyone else have this problem? Aside from this disappointment, this is a pleasant and attractively laid out picture book of one architect's expensive new dwellings using classical idioms. In my opinion, best suited for fans of the types of showplaces that are favored by Architectural Digest.

From the inside cover: "This book, the first of two volumes, showcases six stylistically different residential projects ranging from a 16th-century Italian villa on a Louisiana bayou to a Federal mountaintop home in Kentucky."
This is one of the best books I have ever seen. Vol. 1 is a large and heavy book, over 400 pages. More than 60 pages per home. The selected homes richly deserve each page devoted to them. I've never seen a book before or since whose design and execution has been given as much care and attention as this one. The images and printing are of the highest quality.
The six residences are typically represented by plans (site, floor), renderings (pencil and colored renderings on textured paper), building sections, exterior elevations, excerpts from the actual construction drawings, photos (far-away, close-up details, exterior, kitchen, bathroom, living room, bedroom, garden) and details (column, stair, chimney, fireplace, built-ins, ceiling, window and roof eaves).

Beautiful domestic architecture, with an unapologetic grandeur so sadly missing from so much of cookie-cutter modern America. The text was evocative, as well.
