In 1944, a little boy named Dean Stockwell began his acting career quite by accident when he accompanied his older brother, Guy, to a Broadway audition. No one could have suspected that the precocious youngster who had trouble remembering his single line of "I won't be damned!" and had little interest in the production would grow up to become one of the most prolific and talented performers in Hollywood. From his film debut in the 1945 musical "Anchors Aweigh" to his Oscar-nominated role of Tony "The Tiger" Russo in "Married to the Mob," Dean Stockwell has made a name for himself through offbeat and unique roles in movies, theatre and television. His most successful role and greatest fame came with the part of Al Calavicci in NBC's science-fiction series "Quantum Leap," and as a former child star with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer he qualifies as one of the legendary actors of the studio system. However, his name doesn't ring a bell with the general public. Who is Dean Stockwell? And just what has he done in his life? Well, he's done more than you might think...
Über den Autor
M.L. Zambrana was born and raised in Michigan, and graduated from Northern Michigan University in 1992, with a B.A. in English. She is currently an active-duty photographer with the United States Navy, and has written numerous fiction stories and articles online. This is her first published work.

How accurate is an "unauthorized" biography?

The professional information is most likely accurate. A listing
of movies and television roles for Dean Stockwell could be found
in a number of places, and then used in this book. You cannot,
however, really vouch for all other information if the author
never even had the chance to interview the actor and find out if
stories and anecdotes are true. I didn't get the impression that
anything was over-played, but I still wondered if we had the whole
story. Being something of a Dean Stockwell fan, I would rather
like to know that he was really well-represented by a book such
as this. (I do have to say, though, that the author of this
book never made me feel that she was trying to sensationalize
any part of the story.)

Good, but I wish it was longer

This was a good biography of one of my favorite actors, the talented Dean Stockwell, but when I finished, I felt there could have been more. It didn't feel quite as finished as other biographies I'd read. Plus, there were no pictures! Boo! I'm a big photo fan (but there's plenty to be found on the internet...). Pictures would have been nice. Otherwise, it's a fairly good biography; I just felt it was lacking a little more depth in some places.
