Rezension bezieht sich auf: National Audubon Society Guide to Landscape Photography (Taschenbuch)
I am a beyond the basics amateur photographer. I was looking around for one book about the technical issues in landscape. So, pay attention that I was looking for a book for technical issues not vision (for example using filters, bracketing, and simple composition rules). There were several options including
Digital Landscape Photography. I want to tell you that if you are beyond the basics, for example you know what is aperture priority, shutter speed, depth of field or the other simple terms in photography go no where else and buy this one immediately.
if you are such a person looking around for a camera, tripod, starting just at the beginning go for the other book mentioned and do not forget to read the Conrad Oregon Review in amazon.com .
This book starts with the outfitting in the field including Optics, tripod and logistics which are very helpful and I had not seen like this anywhere else. Next chapter is devoted to Shooting fundamentals like exposure metering, aperture and shutter speed, Depth of field and finding good parameters for exposure in different situations, focal lenght effect which I really got good ideas in them. Then it goes more advanced and discusses about the topics such as different lighting (front, back, side) and its effect on subject, using filters (GND and polarizers), discusses different compositions for good looking pictures such as rule of third and other ones and it also speaks a little bit about vision which is how a photo will look afterwards and how to find the best time and conditions to get the best results.
The book continues with a marvelous discussion about the specific shooting situations like Automn, waterfall, Reflection, Dune, Twilight and more. Personally I found this part the most helpful part of the book but it depends on individual off course, and it ends with a talk about post-processing such as sharpening.
In short, I really recommend this book to any one who is beyond the very basic things in photography and looks for more. Tim Fitzharris is a great photographer and is the most profound technical guy in this field. If this book is too much for you at the moment go for the other one mentioned in this review. Don't be bothered with my English too :)
