How I love this book. I don't suppose there is any way they will update it to include full writeups post-season six now that the series is cancelled, but I would shell out big bucks if they did. Far more than I would have expected, they managed to encapsulate the wit and fun of the series between the covers. Reading the writeups of "Sidehackers," "Cave Dwellers," "Magic Voyage of Sinbad," etc., brought back to me much of what I loved about each episode (the ridiculousness, the great quips, the madness of the bots and the mads), but without the occasional pain that comes along with two hours of exposure to the worst of the worst. Like all true MSTies, I relish the pain of the bad movies because the worse they are, the funnier the show is, but it still hurts sometimes. The best thing about this book is, it's pain-free, since it's all filtered through the writers. It's not a substitute for the show, of course, but it's a fun complement. And TV's Frank adds sidebar comments, giving his personal reactions to his "favorite" episodes! That alone is worth double the cost of the book, honestly. Come back guys, please! (Sorry, I know they won't, and it's for the best, but I'm still trying to cope.)

This book covers the pre-Sci-Fi Channel years, seasons one through six, and a preview of season seven. The book covers the origins of MST3K, the people responsible, and a pretty detailed review of each episode of seasons one through six. The KTMA days are briefly covered, and although I understand why they didn't want to focus much on them, I wish they had anyway. Each episode is covered by a member of the staff and then commented upon, with a an outline of the Host Segements and Stingers inbetween. It's fun to see what went on behind the scenes and what the staff was thinking about the movie they were tearing apart. There's also a tearful entry from Kevin Murphy about his encounter with Kurt Vonnegut. Also included in the back is a list of their 50 most obscure references; although I could think up about 100 more obscure ones than they have chosen. Another thing I would like to know is where exactly did they get these movies? They explained how they chose them, but not where on Earth they got their hands on them in the first place. That would be very interesting. There's a bio of each member of the gang in the back as well, but Mike's bio is on six or seven other people throughout history rather than himself, I think.

When you're a MiSTie (an official fan of MST3K), you treat this book is like a bible. When you need to find out about obscure references made by the silouhettes, what the Best Brains in charge of the show thought of the episodes themselves, or just need to ask, "Why...?" all you need by your side is a copy of the MST Amazing Colossal Episode Guide.

A tasteful insight behind every episode from seasons 1-6, with information behind the KTMA years, the movie, and the near-absent season 7, all drummed up by the minds behind our favorite show.

This book stays true to everything MST3K, and doesn't jerk around with the fans. It makes you laugh while learning about the best show on TV at the same time. Picking up a copy of this book is like watching an episode of the show... you never know where it's going, and when it's done, you wish for more. It truly is the only thing for comfort during those endless hours in between episodes.

I'd have to say that this book is the eqivialant of an extremly good MST episode. Only it doesn't have the boring parts that usually come along with a televison episode. From cover to cover, it is an extremly funny book. But you have to have a MST3K mind to enjoy it. They pick apart and bash every movie in ways not possible on the T.V. show. Kevin, Mike, Paul, Trace, and Pearl take turns addressing the needs of their episodes. They describe the plots of the movies in ways that totally bring out their absoulte cheesyness. I will give you my personal guarentee that you'll be satified with this book if you love it. If you need some encourgement to spend the money on this book, I'll put my vote of confidece in for you that it is a Very good book for any Mystery Sciece Theater 3000 fan.

The MST3K Amazing Colossal Episode Guide, although by now a bit dated, is still a must-buy for any fan of that little old "cowtown puppet show." This book is akin to a travel guide through some of the worst refuge of cinema history, with MST3K the tour bus you stay safely inside and the writing staff your helpful (and funny) drivers. The book covers the Comedy Central years, up until the end of the sixth season, with choice words about the seventh season, the MST3K movie, and the first MST3K convention. Not a single word about the big moveover to Sci-Fi, but that's probably for the best. Enjoy the golden Comedy Central years with this book.

After a 10 year run, Mystery Science Theater 3000's Satellite Of Love has come back to earth (and the inhabitants are living in Wisconsin), but their memories live on in this book. Compiled by all of the writers at Best Brains, Inc. this guide chronicles the conception and first ever episodes on a public access station all the way through the end of their run on Comedy Central (being moved to the Sci Fi Channel for two years after that). Every little inside joke, extra show, and insight into the people who bring the characters to life is here, and is now made even more bittersweet since the show has ended. A must buy for any MSTie out there.
