Kurzbeschreibung

Book 10 in the New Species series. The books can be read as stand-alone stories, but it is advisable to read them in order to get the most enjoyment from the series.

Dr. Joyce Yards has never met anyone as sexy or as irresistible as 466. He refuses to discuss anything except getting her naked beneath him. Their therapy sessions are growing hotter, his raw hunger for her is becoming aggressive, and she is falling for him. Joy knows the dire consequences if she gives in to desire. It will break her heart but she must walk away.

Moon has been drugged. He is feral and dangerous to everyone. The NSO doctors turn to the only female Moon ever cared about—the one who left him in the desert two years ago.

Moon isn’t the same male Joy once knew but she is willing to put her life on the line for him. There are no rules now. If sex tames the wild beast and triggers his fractured memories, allowing him moments of lucidity, then Joy will give him her body and her soul. She’ll do whatever it takes to save him.

A Romantica® twilight erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave

5.0 von 5 Sternen Pure Freude !!! 23. August 2013

Ja!!!

I simply love this serie of Laurann Dohner. As always it deals with gen-manipulation of human beeings with predators, who are abused by scientists. Of course, love, sex and the relation to "normal" human beings is also a very big part. I cannot wait to read another book of the serie.

I read all of the New Species books and I liked this one the least. Don't get me wrong there are great sex scenes in there which are very stimulating but as soon as they are not at it the two main characters really do not talk and I got bored and stopped half way through

5.0 von 5 Sternen What an amazing read!! 30. April 2013
Von Ditter Kellen - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

It's no secret I am a huge Species fan. Just like any other series, I have my favorites. Justice (Book 4) has always had my heart. Moon may have pushed him out of the saddle for that position...or come frighteningly close. If you read Shadow (Book 9) You are aware Moon was shot with an unknown drug that has everyone scrambling around trying to find an antidote. He is feral and unable to recognize anyone or comprehend what is taking place.

Justice calls in Doctor Joyce Yards, Moons previous therapist when he was newly freed from Mercile Industries. He was known as 466 during those sessions. Moon and Joy have a complicated definition of their relationship, which has left him resentful. (I apologize for being vague. Avoiding spoilers). Justice is hopeful of Joy's ability to help Moon, due to their past encounters.

Joy couldn't forget 466, so when she is called to help, she doesn't hesitate. She will risk anything to save him...her job, family, even her life. She regrets what had to be done in the past, but she had no choice. Moon and Joy are reunited under frightening circumstances, that both amaze and scare the hell out of the therapist. Joy can only pray she can save his life, win his trust, and maybe his heart in the process.

In my opinion, this was one of the deepest books in the Species series. It's dark, very emotional, and full of heart stopping scenes. I found it incredibly hot and tender. It brought me to tears on more than one occasion. There are also laugh out loud moments involving Harley, Moon's best friend. One of the things I enjoyed most was the interaction with not just Moon and Joy, but the entire cast of characters Laurann brought in from previous books. It is non stop action from beginning to end. With that said, I have no doubt a lot of you are dying to know about the heat level. (Grin) On a scale of 1-10...I give it a 15. Yes, ladies...it's a scorcher!! Great plot...very well thought out. Extremely intense scenes with just the right amount of realism. You won't be disappointed. Highly recommend

5.0 von 5 Sternen Moon made me howl 30. April 2013

What can I say...this book was INCREDIBLY STUPENDOUSLY AMAZINGLY AWESOME!!! It's one of my favorite New Species books. I loved that Joy was strong & I could connect & totally get her point of view. You do ANYTHING for those you love. And Moon does someything crazy and dangerous for love too! As far as who I think is going to be mated next I believe it will be Flame & Amanda's story. Which honestly I am really looking forward to seeing Amanda's character develop beyond what we saw in Wrath. Then after that hopefully Harley because he was in this book so much. And I am still rooting for Breeze & Trey to hook up...they'd be crazy explosive! Anyway, it was a great book that I honestly couldn't put down even if I wanted to! Can we make this a 7 star rating for perfection?

2.0 von 5 Sternen Weak 2. Mai 2013
Von Krissy - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

I have been looking forward to Moon's release for a long time, so I am sad to have to confess my negative feelings about this book. And I do, I have to say how I feel because there were definitely some improvements in this book that made it different from the others in this series, but there were a lot of weak points I found in this book too.

*Contains minor spoilers*

First, I loved Joy. There were no wishy-washy feelings from her. Ever. She knew what she wanted, she knew the guilt of what she did, and she was determined to fix everything between her and Moon as well as she could. She was tough and spoke her mind. She also had a great deal of knowledge about the New Species coming into the story, and I found that refreshing in a heroine from this series. Joy was the best part about this book for me. I thought her story deserved sympathy, and I loved that she was very active in trying to reconnect with Moon. She should have earned a medal after all the things she did for him, and yet she mostly just received crap for things like being in the way (yeah, she was all over Moon almost all the time), being unethical (which she never was), and leaving Moon in the first place (that issue was repeated over and over and over again). I could go into a rant about how I hated how the other characters treated her. I really could. Yes, I admit that she does get a little sappy and lovey-dovey a little too much, and maybe she does go on about Moon and her job a little too much too, but I liked her attitude. I liked her in general except for the end. But okay, I'm done about her now. Moving on!

Moon...oh Moon...you did disappoint me. I LOVED Moon in the previous books. I thought he was funny and different and had a personality that I would like the most out of all the other New Species males in this series. This book ruined him. I liked feral Moon the most actually. I just wanted to hug him, and I loved the tense scenes between him and Joy at the beginning of the book. I almost wish he had never gotten better...wait that's wrong isn't it? Well, his personality dried up as soon as he got better. He was so whiney! "She left me! I can't believe she left me! I'll never trust her again!" "Oh, I can't handle going into a sauna even though I need to in order to see if this will sweat out the drugs so I'll stop being evil. It's so hot. I'm such a pansy." "Did I mention that she ruined my life? She keeps trying to be reasonable and explain why she left, but all I can think about is myself." Moon was not funny or charming even when he got better. He was such a girl. He kept running off to Harley to talk about his feelings rather that DOING ANYTHING. Boo hiss, Moon. I'm really sorry, but boo hiss.

I think Mrs. Dohner was a little lazy setting up his and Joy's relationship background too by saying that they were so close when they communicated during the therapy. Okay, so I guess that's supposed to be reasonable, but I needed evidence to feel their connection. They had very little communication in the book. Joy got to talk to him more when he was feral than she did when he was well again. I did like the flashbacks though to when he was newly freed and she was his counselor. They were kind of cute, but when it was supposed to be present day, I just didn't feel it between them. Moon wouldn't forgive her, and Joy was constantly desperate to have him. There was like this anxiety that came with their relationship. I couldn't relax and enjoy them together. They didn't even really confront each other. It was mostly a mess the whole time. Blah.

I hated Harley, by the way. I can see why some other readers may like him, but ugh, I just wanted to push him out of the book. He was annoying, and not once did I find his jokes funny. His humor always came in the wrong time it seemed, so he just irritated me. This wouldn't have been a big deal except that he was Moon's best friend, so he was often in the book and a somewhat important character. I also have to complain that the chemistry was terrible between Moon and Joy, and the ending...good day that was bad. It just cut off. I mean, I knew there couldn't be anything left. Everything had already been dragged out so long, but jeez, there were still some issues that I wanted solved. Moon was a jerk, but he never even apologized to anyone. It just ended with a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe the sex had something to do with it too. It started good but got worse as the book went on. The last scene...that was just awkward.

So I wrote way too much about this book, but I hope this helps somebody. I saw that everyone loved it and thought that this one was going to be the best yet. Not so much for me. The characters were not good together, there were a lot of issues that made the book too complex to have the kind of ending it had, and I was just disappointed. The storyline was good, I'll give it that. I also thought that this book has been the best written of this series. There was not nearly as much repetition or grammar mistakes as there has been in the other books. I really appreciated that in this book. Maybe my expectations were set too high for this book too. I don't really know. I'll probably read the next one (as long as it isn't about Harley), but my excitement for it has definitely been repressed.

5.0 von 5 Sternen "New Species" - Best to date! 4. Dezember 2013
Von bettysunflower - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Dr. Joyce Yards fell in love with one of her "Species" patients and found it increasingly difficult to rebuff his advances. So one night, she just packed it up, quit her job and left. Two years later she was contacted by the "Species" that one of her patients was out of control and needed her help very badly. Once she found out that it was the patient that she had fallen in love with, Moon, she turned her car around and headed to him right away.
Moon had taken her abandonment very personally and suffered her loss. Now he was ill, and she was the only one that was able to penetrate the fog that had him confused and disoriented. He would seems to be coming out of it and then revert again to the confusion. Diagnosis seemed impossible as they only clue they had was that he had been shot with a dart.
The main characters are likable and interesting. The story line is a good one that has romance and mystery. The writing style is easy to read and easy to follow. I think this is one on the authors best "New Species" to date and I love them all!

2.0 von 5 Sternen Again - disappointing 29. Mai 2013
Von DesertRat - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

The last two books in this series have been disappointing. I didn't finish Shadow 9 because there was no real plot and no action. Just a story about sex. This one is the same. The early books in this series were great - exciting, action packed stories with fascinating charaters and some sex. The author doesn't seem to be putting in a lot of effort - turning into a E-book only writer. Not a good thing.
