I love Moon Handbooks, but have noticed with the last couple of purchases the books are much smaller and don't talk about the quirky, out of the way places I find so interesting. It happened with the 7th Edition 2009 Colorado book, and now the 6th Edition 2011 Idaho book. In our travels we have found some really fun places in Idaho like Heise Hot Spring (with fun small golf course, restaurant and campgroung next door). Also, found in the Idaho 2001 edition was Aspen Acres near Ashton. It is a campground/golf course built out in the middle of nowhere on an old farm with a great view of the Tetons from the west side. It's not all about golfing either. In the 2001 edition we found Warm River, ID. It isn't mentioned in the new Handbook either. There is a great campground right on the Warm River. We did a fun mountain bike ride right from the campground and fed the huge trout that congregate near the bridge. Lots of our friends ask, "How do you go about planning your trips and find these out of the way places?" I always tell them about my collection of Moon Handbooks. I thought with 10 years passing since my last Idaho Moon Handbook purchase it was time for an update. I find myself referring back to the old editions of both Colorado and Idaho to be sure I'm not missing something fun and interesting along the way. I would gladly pay a little more to get more information. Disappointed!!
