... ist für mich mein selbstgeschriebener Reiseführer...
Vor der Reise mit Infos vollgeschrieben, während der Reise mit Notizen über Ereignisse, Restaurants, Museen gefüllt und nach dem Urlaub mit klein ausgedruckten Fotos versehen ist dieses City Notebook mein schönstes Souvenir.
Eine tolle idee von Moleskine. Ein schickes kleines Notizbuch mit einer edlen Haptik und hochwertigem Papier.
Hab mich schon für die nächste Reise mit dem nächsten Moleskine eingedeckt. Sie ersetzen keinen Standard Reiseführer, aber während ebendiese nach dem Urlaub im Regal vollstauben wird das kleine schwarze Büchlein gerne nochmal zum blättern und erinnern hervorgeholt.

Extremely compact & useful book. Great souvenir when it's completed!

If it's going to be your first trip to Rome, or like me, you've been to Rome many times, you will love this book. Each time I have gone, I have had several tour books that I lugged around with me because they all have little bits of information that is extremely useful. Well, once I bought this book and started to fill it out with the information that I wanted to have on hand, I fell in love with it. Not only is it more compact than my other guide books, but it is personalized with my favorite spots, and notes that I can keep about restaurants, hotels, etc. (including whether I loved or hated the place).
Now when I need to book a hotel at the last minute for another business trip, I can go online to my favorite places, and I remember why I liked the place and exactly how to find it! The city maps and metro guide are also extremely helpful.
Once I had filled out the back portion of the book with places that I had visited, I put my favorite pictures and museum ticket stubs on the blank pages in the front. It's now one of the cheapest and my most treasured souvenirs from Rome. I've even had other tourists ask if they could look at my "pretty little book".

I ordered this "notebook" a couple of weeks before I took my trip to Rome over Christmas week and it was one of the smartest things I ever did to make traveling easier. First of all the book comes with an street index and maps of the entire city of Rome, and a subway map. They have conveniently located the subway stops on the maps as well so you can see how close you are to a subway stop you may need to get where you're trying to go. Since the streets of Rome are full of strange twists and turns and many areas look alike, I can't begin to tell you how many times this book was useful in helping us to find our way whenever we started to get lost. It also contains a conversion chart for measurments that included everything from distance to men and women's shoes and clothing sizes. This turned out to be very helpful when I went shopping for a pair of shoes.
other great features are a section where you can make a note of things and places you want to see before you get there, or notes about places you found to be your favorites while you were there with little pictures at the right of thepage to help you get back to that page to see the information, quickly. Before I left I translated simple Italian phrases that I knew I'd use a lot and copied them in the book. I also looked up the weather in Rome ahead of time for all of the days I would be there and made note of it in the book and I referresd to this information whenever I needed to. Having this book helped me to cut down on carying around a lot of different items like separate travel guides, translating books, etc. Plus, as an artist who likes to keep a journal, there were plenty of pages for me to sketch and write down my thoughts. Then when you come home you end up with a nice scrapbook/record of your trip all in one place, that can be used again and again if you go back to Rome or any other city that Moleskine created one of these books for. I can't rave enough about this book.

I bought this notebook to use as a vacation planner, but also as a keepsake journal of my trip. The product dimensions are reported accurately on the site - 3x5. Not very big, but that's part of what's so great about it. The book is high quality, and I love the little pocket on the inside back cover to hold ticket stubs, etc. (I had trouble confirming there really was a pocket before I bought it, so I wanted to specifically mention that it DOES!) I also love how the book is laid out with plenty of space for my own notes and thoughts - a true journal.
Now for the cons: The tear out sheets are about the size of a quarter - I can't imagine actually using those, but - hey! It could happen. Also, the maps aren't detailed enough (in my opinion) to really navigate a foreign city. They're great for planning, but not all of the small side streets are marked, so I suspect I'll need to get another map when I arrive. Finally, my book came wrapped in the manufacturer's plastic, but was missing the stickers for customizing the tabbed sections. This was not a big enough deal to me to warrant returning the item, because the pre-labeled sections were sufficient for me.
Even with the cons, though, I must admit that this is one of the coolest PRE-souveniers that I've purchased.
