Horrible sound quality 12. Oktober 2005
Von L. R. Shoemaker - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Hörkassette
I am so sad to say how disappointed I was with the quality of this tape. Thich Nhat Hanh has so much wisdom to share, but this tape was frustrating to listen to, between the muffled tone and the audience coughs, laughs, and sneezes. I hate to say it, but this deserves a pass, especially considering the content is good....if you can hear it.

Really poor audio quality 1. Mai 2006

Format: Hörkassette
Purchased this and it's been very frustrating to listen to this because of the poor audio quality. You definitely need to practice mindfulness to hear what is being said. Don't waste your money on this recording.

Low quality audio, but excellent quality content 29. April 2011
Von Kevin Hutchinson - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Audio CD
Yes, it is true that the audio quality is medium-to-low, but I find that Thich Nhat Hanh's words are easy to hear and understand. The audio quality is about the same as a long distance Skype call. If you buy his teachings for their audio quality, then give this a miss, but if you buy them for their clear insightful teachings, then this is a fine addition to your library.

A beautiful blend for the Professional 18. Juli 2014

As I read some of the reviews, I shuffled back-and-forth about buying this 3-CD set. I am appreciative of Thich Nhat Hanh's contributions; to have an audio would be priceless. But what about the reported lack of audio quality? So, I first clicked on an excerpt that Amazon provides. Sounds OK so far, I thought. After putting more mental energy, I pressed the "buy" button and became the owner of a copy. And I don't regret it! Allow me to address the reports of poor quality: (1) Given that there are periodic sounds from the audience, it is no different than being in one; and (2) Only a couple of times did I hear some muffling with the microphone--a true criticism of quality--but it had no drastic consequences to hearing the content. I've listened to the CDs using a headset and in my car with no serious drawbacks. I would recommend toning down the bass on any device you use, though. What was somewhat challenging was Hanh's thick accent, but it only moved me to listen more intently (good practice!). My guess is that the audience had to do the same as well. The advantage I have over the original audience is that I can play it again.

Thich Nhat Hanh delivers a most powerful and much needed message in simplistic fashion. Using personal stories and painting reflections of nature, Hanh provides the therapist with a most original understanding of mindfulness--which today is often converted into a mechanical exercise and stripped of its mother, Buddhism. According to Hanh, mindfulness and modern psychotherapy can work together to promote the client's happiness. Themes like impermanence, the "garbage and the flower," breathing, awareness, the teacher-student relationship, are just a few of the gems in this set. The only regret I have is that this is an abridged version. But still worth it!

two roads that lead to the same end 3. Mai 2013

I'm a Psychoanalist and I found this book very enlightening. The author articulates both fields of knowledge in a very sensible way. He doesn't deny the gifts of humanities but very cautiously approaches the eventual labyrinths of science. Such reading is very intriguing and helpful.
