In 1976, the Mexican government purchased the Casasola Photo Agency's archive. The Collection had over 483,000 images. The Casasola Collection served as the foundation for the establishment of a national photo archive. Over the past thirty years, the Fototeca Nacional has done a heroic job of assembling a world class collection of Mexican images taken over the past hundred and fifty years.
"Mexico, A Photographic History" presents an overview of the many collections housed in the Fototeca Nacional. The book reprints classic images from the Casasola Brothers, Guillermo Kahlo, Tina Modotti, Hugo Brehme and Nacho Lopez. Their are also many beautiful images that not many people have not seen before.
Although Mexico is a developing country, it has a history of producing very high quality art books. This book has everything you would expect from a first rate art book. There are beautiful images printed on high quality paper and it is well written and translated. This book is highly collectable and a very good value. Highest recommendation.
