Synopsis

This book provides a detailed guide to the various internal and external characteristics which distinguished each version of the Messerschmitte Me 210 and Me 410 heavy fighters. It will enable readers to see the difference between the multitude of sub-types and identify the various modifications and weapon systems and conversion packs that were used. The reason or need for particular modifications are also outlined. The book based on years of research, will prove of immense interest to aviation enthusiasts, modellers and historians fascinated by the activities and aircraft of the Luftwaffe between 1933 and 1945.

Wie bisher alle Bücher dieser Reihe sehr informativ und gut bebildert.
Seh informative Texte, man wundert sich immer wieder was nach so langer Zeit noch an neuen Informationen zu finden ist.

Me 210/410 Hornet 28. Dezember 2007
Von Mr. Donald R. Neibling - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe
Although I did like this book, after reading it I could not help feeling a little disappointed. I realise that it is only meant to be an Illustrated production history but some things could have been explained better than they are such as the the difference between each varient instead of relying on untranslated documents. The colour profiles while quite good could have included some Me410B models, some are only called Me410's and leaves one wondering what they really are,I realise the difficulty in doing this without knowing the Werknummer. Chapter 2 which is the Werknummer list probably should have been the last chapter.
Having said this, the photographs are excellent as are the reprints from the technical manuals.A good book but could have been much better.

Average reference book..... 8. November 2007
Von Bryan Tucker - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe
I really wanted more from this title. I found the placement of the production/operations logs right in the middle of the book annoying. Unless you are looking to find a single aircraft, this data is pretty useless, and certainly does not belong in the middle of the book. Seems like it was used for filler, in my opinion. More diagrams of the aircraft, armament, etc would have been nice as well. It's still a decent reference, but folks who want the end-all be-all book on the 210/410 will be dissapointed like I was.

This book is better than its reviews suggest 8. April 2012
Von Jim Davis - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe Verifizierter Kauf
One of the things that struck me about this book was that it was not a Classic Publications title despite the involvement of Eddie J. Creek and the book being of a size with other Classic titles. Instead it was released by another Ian Allan imprint, Midland Publishing.

The reason for this seems to be that the book is more of a collection of manuscripts padded out with additional material than an integrated whole. This makes the book less valuable and less readable than it otherwise might have been; indeed it almost places it in the "reference only" category.

Despite this the value the book does offer is undeniable. The photographs are by and large outstanding and of great interest as are the contemporary technical material reproduced. The werknummern list and the variants chapter are also worthwhile references. In short, references on the Me 210/Me 410 design are not thick on the ground and I learned much more from this one than any other.

The development history is quite competent and does try to place the aircraft in context with its counterparts of other nations like the P-38, the Ju 88, but especially the superb Mosquito. I think it largely misses the lesson of aircraft that go on to be outstanding in many roles. That lesson seems to be that such versatility is usually fortuitous, not premeditated. Before an aircraft can be outstanding in many roles it must be outstanding in at least one.

Recommended but the definitive Me 210/410 book has yet to be written.
Value but lacking greatness 17. Mai 2015

A plane that struggled to find its place in the war and a book that is not as good as the ones that you will find in the excellent Classic Publishing lineup. You will find a large collection of photographs of the 210/410s in mostly static or crashed positions but they seemed to get slightly redundant. There are several nicely drawn colored examples of the planes included but I would of liked to have seen a few more from different theaters, countries, or seasonal paint schemes. The included production logs (34 pgs) take up a large portion of this relatively small book (176 pgs) and would seem more appropriate for something like the traditional Classic Publishing books that can span several books or 300+ pages.

The book had a decent overview of the early problems that faced the 210 but I would of liked to have seen more detail about the problems and solutions that were introduced later in the service life of the 210/410. This book could of easily been a five star book if it included this information and pilot accounts with the aircraft. There is very little information about its combat history, pilots, or accountants from those that faced it in combat. Maybe there wasn't enough information for the writers to make a fully detailed book like the JU-87 book from Classic and there is good value here for the price. I paid around $30 for the book but would of gladly given more for a detailed version of this aircraft.
Another great resource for the Me 410 enthusiast 14. Oktober 2013

This book is a great resource for anyone interested in the Me 410 or possibly working on one of the Meng 410 models.
